Common use of Prolonged Overtime Clause in Contracts

Prolonged Overtime. The parties recognize that the employee’s work is often hazardous and it is therefore necessary that the employee should be alert at all times. It is therefore agreed that only in cases of emergency would employees be required to work in excess of thirteen (13) hours and, should this occur, they will be given at least eight (8) hours rest. Additional rest time will be allowed for long distance travel at the discretion of the Company. Should this period of rest occur during a normal scheduled shift, it will be paid at regular straight time rate of pay.
