Planned Overtime shall be defined as overtime for which the employee has been given at least 24 hours notice in advance.
Planned Overtime. 1. Where management anticipates there will be a need to work overtime in the future, management will solicit volunteers by use of a signup sheet posted on the bulletin board.
2. If there are no volunteers, management will assign mandatory overtime pursuant to section 2(b)(3) of this Article.
Planned Overtime. In making planned overtime assignments the Employer shall first assign overtime on an equal opportunity basis according to each section’s procedure (Schedule E), as agreed to by the parties. Such overtime shall be assigned to employees who are actively on the payroll and who have indicated their willingness to accept overtime assignments according to section procedures and who are:
(a) not on W.S.I.B., absent for any reason and have not booked back to work before the overtime assignment was complete or on vacation. (Ref. Article 32.6);
(b) if all known full-time volunteers have been assigned or have turned down overtime for any particular day, then known volunteers will be assigned from the known part-time volunteers on the same shared opportunity basis; and
(c) after the lists have been exhausted then the Employer may contact any employee available. (c) above, they must be able to complete the entire assignment, and overtime assignments will not be made which will knowingly result in less than eight (8) consecutive hours of rest at some point between each day’s work assignments.
(a) When an employee who works a five day work week is scheduled on a regular basis to shifts longer than eight (8) hours due to service requirements, such employee(s) is obliged to fulfil such schedule and shall receive any applicable overtime rate. Any shift schedules in excess of eight (8) hours shall be by mutual agreement prior to implementation.
(b) When an employee who works a four day work week is scheduled on a regular basis to shifts longer than ten (10) hours due to service requirements, such employee(s) is obliged to fulfil such schedule and shall receive any applicable overtime rate. Any shift schedules in excess of ten (10) hours shall be by mutual agreement prior to implementation.
Planned Overtime. When planned overtime is worked on an employee's regular days off or at 6:00AM or later as described in Clause 12.2 (1), the employee is expected to provide the meal for the first normal meal break normally at the end of a five (5) hour period actually worked. However, under no circumstances will an employee be required to carry lunches for two consecutive meals. If a meal is provided by the company, employees will not receive a meal chit.
Planned Overtime. (a) When management determines there is a need for overtime that management knows must be worked the following day and/or beyond, management will use the voluntary overtime list and offer the overtime opportunity to Food Service Coordinators on a rotating basis based on seniority which shall be defined as Agency time in classification. Management will offer the overtime work to the most senior Food Service Coordinator on the list first (1st).
(b) Management will move through the list until a Food Service coordinator volunteers for the overtime work available.
(c) The employee will move to the bottom of the list if they: 1) work the overtime offered; 2) the Food Service Coordinator is offered the overtime opportunity but turns it down; or, 3) management calls the Food Service Coordinator at home but the Food Service Coordinator does not respond. The Agency will only be required to call the Food Service Coordinator one
Planned Overtime. Notwithstanding (b) above, overtime in the form of an additional shift(s), shall be posted on the bulletin board for each classification where overtime will be required primarily, and any secondary classifications where overtime may be required if the primary requirement is not filled. Volunteers must sign the overtime sheet not later than 8:00 a.m. Wednesday in order to be considered for the upcoming week. The senior employee(s) qualified to perform the work of the primary overtime requirement will be selected for the overtime. Should there be an insufficient number of volunteers for the primary overtime requirement, then the secondary overtime requirement will be filled by the senior employee(s) qualified to perform the work.
Planned Overtime. Planned overtime is time worked in excess of seven hours in a work day which is scheduled in advance and is pre-approved by the employee’s supervisor or designate. Such overtime shall be compensated as compensatory time at one (1) hour for one (1) hour basis to be taken off at a mutually agreeable time as outlined in Article 18.02.
Planned Overtime. (d) (iii) Where the need for overtime, within a section as defined herein, is known at least two days in advance, the overtime shall be first offered to employees in the work location who normally perform the work and who have signed the requisite overtime list. If no employee is available to perform the overtime, the overtime will then be offered to those employees within the section on a district-wide basis.
Planned Overtime. The company will provide as much notice as possible to employees when overtime is required. The minimum notice period is 48 hours. The employee and his/her supervisor may mutually agree to a shorter notice period. Overtime that is a continuation of the day stays with the employee or crew and is not distributed to other employees on the master list(s). In the case of emergency overtime, employees may request relief. Relief will be provided from the on-call list. Employees will indicate on an annual basis their willingness to work planned overtime. In the event there are insufficient employees who volunteer for the planned overtime, and once the planned overtime list has been exhausted, then employees will be required to work planned overtime in reverse order of seniority subject to equitable distribution. Planned overtime/overtime opportunities is to be distributed as equitably as practical among qualified employees by job classification following this process:
1. The Supervisor or their designate will be responsible for the Planned Overtime and shall determine the requirements for the work i.e. the number of hours, the number of personnel and the number of specific personnel from the crew required to ensure safety, consistency and continuity of work.
2. Planned overtime will be distributed to qualified employees on the master (lists) subject to the requirement of the Supervisor as per item (1) above to provide sufficient personnel with direct knowledge of the job to ensure safety, consistency and continuity of the work.
3. A master list by job classification will be created to track opportunities for planned overtime.
4. All overtime with the exception of “on call” overtime will be considered in determining the equitable distribution of overtime.
5. For the purposes of determining equitable distribution of overtime all overtime will be tracked and accumulated from February 1, 2005 forward. The Supervisor or their designates will update their master list of planned overtime as it is completed.
6. The master lists will be posted in each section by job classification.
7. When administering planned overtime each Supervisor will verify who the appropriate employees are by referencing the master list. Planned Overtime. To the extent possible, in accordance with the provisions of section E.1., planned overtime shall be offered to the most senior employee, then the next most senior and so on, until all employees in the shop or work location have been offered overtime, at which time, the most senior employee is again offered an overtime assignment. For the purpose of this section, seniority shall be based on the employee's time in the classification in a shop or work location.
