Promotion to Librarian III. If performance and other circumstances warrant, Librarian II faculty with six years of service may be promoted to the rank of Librarian III. Promotion to Librarian III will be based on consistent demonstration of excellence in librarianship, teaching or teaching-related activities, and professional development, with satisfactory performance in professional development and service that demonstrates growth and improvement since the initial appointment as Librarian II. It is the responsibility of the faculty member to demonstrate that they have met or exceeded the library criteria for promotion. Promotion to Librarian III will be based on consistent demonstration of excellence in librarianship, teaching or teaching-related activities, and professional development, with satisfactory performance in professional development and service. The promotion of Librarian II to Librarian III will parallel that of tenure-track faculty as shown in Article XI: Promotion. However, the only faculty committee involved in the promotion to Librarian III will be the Library Tenure and Promotion Committee. The promotion file of the NTT Librarian Faculty member will be structured similarly to that specified in Article XI but include only relevant sections, including such items as specified below. It is the NTT Librarian Faculty member’s responsibility to demonstrate that they have met or exceeded the library criteria for promotion. The general criteria for promotion to Librarian III are shown below in Item 8, but the specific criteria will be developed by librarian faculty and the Library Xxxx, and may vary depending on Library and University needs. Promotion to Librarian III. (i) For promotion in rank from Librarian II to Librarian III, the librarian’s performance is reviewed by a Committee appointed as required by the Chief Librarian. It shall be composed of the Chief Librarian as chair, and three professional librarians with the rank of Librarian III or above. At least one of these librarians shall be from the University of Toronto library system or from the Library of one of the Federated Universities. (ii) A Librarian II may be considered for promotion by the Committee at the time of each annual evaluation but must be considered for regular status and promotion in the final year of his or her appointment as a Librarian II. A promotion may be granted by the Chief Librarian upon the majority recommendation of the Committee.
