Recall of Non-Renewed Professional Staff. Recall of non-renewed staff members will be initiated immediately upon the existence of a vacancy in the district. When a position opens, non-renewed professional staff members shall be offered recall in reverse order of non-renewal to vacant positions that they are licensed to fill. Central Office administration shall make this offer by certified mail. Non- renewed employees will have one calendar week to accept the district’s offer prior to the Board offering the position to another applicant. It is the responsibility of non-renewed staff members to keep the Central Office informed of their current mailing address and any changes in teaching certification. Any recalled professional staff member shall be given full salary, related benefits (such as, but not limited to, accumulated sick leave and health insurance), and credit for the experience level attained prior to leaving USD 450 plus any subsequent teaching experience. Permanent substitute appointments or outside hires shall not be used to subjugate the Board’s obligation to non-renewed employees. Non-renewed professional staff will be accorded recall rights for two (2) years unless waived in writing by the staff member. No non-renewed staff member will lose those rights if they secure other employment during the two-year (2) period. The Board shall annually provide XXXX with a current list of those who have retained their recall rights.
