Reinstatement from Leave. Upon completion of a leave of absence, the employee is to be returned to a position in the employee’s classification or to a similar position if the employee’s classification no longer exists. Any replacement in the position while an employee is on leave is to be on a temporary basis. An employee may contact the Employer prior to the expiration of said leave, and be granted a reasonable extension for a justifiable cause. In no event may the leave of absence with extensions exceed six (6) months. An employee may be returned to work before the scheduled expiration of leave if requested by the employee and agreed to by the Employer. If an employee fails to return to work at the expiration of an approved leave absence, and does not submit a resignation, the employee will be considered “absent without leave” and shall be subject to immediate termination.
