Does the proposed project support the goals and objectives of the California Strategic Fire Plan, the local CAL FIRE Unit Fire Plan, a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), County Fire Plan, or other long-term planning document? The primary goals and objectives of the Riverside County Fire Prevention Education Program are centered around fire prevention in land areas and populations with the highest risk of fire starts that can turn into catastrophic wildland fires. The proposed program is consistent with and supports the 2010 California Strategic Fire Plan, 2014 RRU Strategic Fire Plan, and two current strategic plans that address the risk and potential impact to habitable structures from wildfire in the SRA. Specifically, this project is aligned with the goal to increase the “commitment by individuals and communities to wildfire prevention and protection through local fire planning,” as stated in the 2010 Strategic Fire Plan for California (as revised April 2016).

The proposed project is consistent with the 2010 California Strategic Fire Plan, the RRU 2014 Unit Strategic Fire Plan, and two current strategic plans that address the risk and potential impact to habitable structures from wildfire in the SRA. The Riverside County Fire Department has re-entered into agreements with the current private property owners whose properties lie within the El Xxxxxx Fuel Reduction Project and established new projects such as the South Main Divide Fuel Reductions Project, and a part of the area will be covered in the Southwest Fire Safe Council CWPP, which add protection from a fire spreading down slope into the communities from the north and east. In addition to maintaining the prescribed fuel loading levels completed, it is proposed that the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department increases the treatment area within the same private properties to broaden the “shaded fuel break” and create a wider buffer of protection.
