Common use of Religious Objections Clause in Contracts

Religious Objections. The Association has the sole right to verify that a bargaining unit member qualifies for a religious exemption from the obligation to pay fees. Any bargaining unit member who is a member of a religious body whose traditional tenets or teachings include objection to joining or financially supporting employee organizations shall not be required to join or financially support CSEA. Such bargaining unit member shall pay sums equal to the service fee to one of the following non-religious, non- labor organizations, charitable funds exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) or Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code: 1. United Way, Tulare County 2. American Cancer Society 3. Tulare County Office of Education Foundation Any bargaining unit member making payments as set forth in this section, who requests the grievance or arbitration provisions of this Agreement, shall be responsible for paying the reasonable cost of using said grievance or arbitration procedures.
