Common use of Religious Observance Clause in Contracts

Religious Observance. An employee shall be allowed time off for observance of religious holidays unless the employee's absence substantially interferes with the performance of essential City services, such time off to be charged to accrued vacation, accumulated overtime or a floating holiday, if available, or to time off without pay; providing, however, that the City Attorney may allow such time to be made up by rescheduling of the employee's hours of work during the pay period in which the absence occurs. Management will accept requests for time off for these purposes at any time in advance of the date.
