Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical Leave. 4. A bargaining unit member on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation [either for the period of absence one-half (1/2) of his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon his/her return to the District as a full-time teacher following sabbatical leave. 3. The number of persons given sabbatical leave in any year shall be limited return to not more than two (2) teachers. The number of leaves granted shall be distributed throughout the system within the District. If the number requesting sabbatical leave exceeds the number of such leave available, the selection shall be based on:
a. The estimated value of the leave to the individual and to the school system;
b. The amount of years of service employment in the District;

6. Group hospitalization and medical insurance, including disability income protection and group term life insurance, shall continue while on sabbatical leave.
7. An agreement shall be signed by the participating partners. Successful applicants must indicate within thirty (30) days of being awarded the sabbatical that they plan to accept and agree to the terms of the sabbatical. If an individual should decline the sabbatical before August 1, the sabbatical shall be offered to another qualified applicant. Should the bargaining unit member receiving sabbatical leave voluntarily separate his/her former position employment or substantially equivalent positionhas his/her employment separated for cause within five (5) years after returning from leave, the bargaining unit member shall be required to pay the Xxxxxxx County Public Schools a prorated portion (each of the five (5) years shall equate to twenty percent (20%)) of the sabbatical leave amount paid on his/her behalf. Such payment shall be made within one (1) year of his/her separation from employment.

Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical Leave. a. Subject to the applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who the Board may, in its sole discretion, grant sabbatical leaves for study.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject Sabbatical leaves may be granted in accordance with Section 24-6.1 of the Illinois School Code. The purpose of this clause is to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for seven (7) consecutive years contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in the schools of this District may, in by aiding individual professional development through the sole discretion and judgment granting of sabbatical leave time. Inasmuch as leaves will be granted only for those activities deemed beneficial to the program of the Boardsystem, be granted except as provided in subsection I. hereof, a partial payment of salary during the leave period is considered reasonable and justifiable under the following conditions.
A. Application for sabbatical leave may be made by any certificated person who will have completed six (6) continuous years of employment in this District prior to the commencement of the leave. Such leave shall be for a period of at least four (4) school months, but not in excess of one (1) year for purpose school term. A second sabbatical leave may be granted only if the applicant has completed six (6) years of study, travel or satisfactory service since his/her last sabbatical.
B. The application should reach the office of the Superintendent not later than ninety (90) days before the leave period is to begin. Each application will be evaluated by the Superintendent and such other purposes persons as he/she may desire to involve in the decision, on the basis of its merits and its value to the school system. Certain limiting factors, such as the availability of suitable substitutes and of budget funds, must also be considered in each case.
C. Applications for sabbatical leaves may be submitted for any of the following reasons or any combination of these reasons:
1. Training - This must be resident study. The equivalent of twelve semester hours per semester of college level coursework is a minimum.
2. Planned program of professional development - research, writing, similar activities.
3. Travel - a planned program of educational travel having a direct relationship to the individual's assignment within the system.
4. Other purposes which, in the opinion of the Superintendent and the Board of Education, are designed to improve the school system.
D. The employee shall submit evidence of professional development at the conclusion of the sabbatical leave period. This may be in the form of written reports, course credit, certification of performance or other means as recommended and approved by the Superintendent.
E. The employee shall receive the same scheduled salary (excluding stipends, if any) during the leave period as if in actual service, except that there shall be deducted therefrom an amount equivalent to the amount payable for substitute service. However, such salary after deduction for substitute service shall in no case be less than the minimum provided by Section 24-8 of the Illinois School Code or one-half of the basic salary, whichever is greater.
F. The person on leave shall not engage in any activity for which salary or compensation is paid unless the activity is directly related to the purpose for which the leave is granted and is approved by the Board. Requests shall A sabbatical leave may be made in writing granted to enable the applicant, if otherwise eligible, to accept scholarships for study or research. Unless justified by illness or incapacity, failure of any person granted a leave under this section to devote the entire period to the Superintendent of Schools on or before May 1st of the school year preceding the school year purposes for which the leave is soughtwas granted, shall constitute a cause for removal from teaching service.
1. G. The teacher on sabbatical leave period shall receive be counted as compensation equivalent to teaching service and credit allowed for salary determination purposes.
H. Failure to return to the period school system for at least three school years after this leave shall result in reimbursement to the District of absence one-half (1/2) all sums of money received by the employee from the Board during his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon his/her return to the District as a full-time teacher following sabbatical leave. The sabbatical leave pay will be paid over the twelve (12) month period following return to teaching duties in the District.
2. A teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive the scheduled increments, and/or adjustments in salary and credits the same as he/she would have received were he/she occupying his/her regular assignments provided all requirements of sabbatical leave policy have been fulfilled. During the sabbatical leave, unless such return and performance is prevented by illness or incapacity. Such a (iv) the teacher shall make reports not be required to return to employment in the District upon completion of his/her activities pertaining to the reason(s) Program unless such teacher is offered a position in the District for the school term following the completion of the IL-PART Program as a Principal, Assistant Principal, or Administrator. Sabbatical Leave. Subject Administrators will be permitted to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments theretoengage in study in the educational field on a sabbatical leave subject to the following conditions:
1. Such leaves shall be limited to one (1) administrator per school year.
2. To be eligible for such leave, teachers who the administrator must have been employed continuously by the Board for seven (7) consecutive years in years.

Upon return from such leave, an administrator shall be eligible for all salary and other benefits (except vacation) at the level which the administrator would have achieved had he/she remained on active duty in the district. An administrator on sabbatical leave shall not earn vacation during the sabbatical leave year and shall take vacation time earned for the year preceding the sabbatical leave year during the year succeeding the sabbatical leave year.
6. It is anticipated that an administrator returning to active duty from a sabbatical leave will remain with the district for a minimum period of two (2) years.
7. Application for such leave shall be made on or before May 1st of February 1 in the school year preceding the school year for which the leave is soughtrequested.
18. The teacher on sabbatical leave selection of the successful applicant will be by the Superintendent of Schools according to the following criteria:
a. Benefit to the administrative assignment in the district.
b. Benefit to the district.
c. If a. and b. are equal between candidates, seniority shall receive as compensation prevail. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical Leave. Subject to applicable Michigan statutory provisions 1. In the interest of rewarding professional performance and encouraging independent research, achievement and professional growth, the Board will grant sabbatical leaves in accordance with the following provisions:
a. In a given year, one member of the faculty shall be guaranteed sabbatical leave. No more than one faculty member may be absent on sabbatical leave at any amendments thereto, teachers one time.

e. The Superintendent shall make his or her recommendations to the Board which shall act thereon not later than May 15th (or November 15th in the case of an application for a spring semester leave) following the submission of the application. In the case of a half-year sabbatical leave, final authorization will depend upon the District's ability to engage a well-qualified substitute.
2. Any faculty member accepting sabbatical leave shall enter into a written agreement with the Board, which agreement shall provide that in the event the faculty member resigns from District service before the completion of three (3) years of service after expiration of the sabbatical leave, he/she shall reimburse the District for that prorated amount of money the unfulfilled three (3) year period bears to the full amount of salary granted to the faculty member during such leave.
3. When the sabbatical leave has been completed, the faculty member shall submit a report of his or her research or study to the Board.
4. Faculty members on leave shall be considered as in the employ of the Board of Education of Lake Placid Central School and the time thus spent shall count as regular service toward retirement, health insurance and salary increases. Such absences shall be without prejudice to the faculty member's tenure rights. The Board will inform any faculty member on sabbatical leave of opportunities for advancement and promotion and such faculty member shall be considered for advancement or promotion in the same manner as those who are presently in service.
5. The teacher Section 2: A person on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation for the period of absence more than one-half (1/2) of a school year, shall receive a salary equal to one-half (1/2) the annual salary to which he/she would have been entitled had he/she continued in his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon his/her return to the District as a full-time teacher following sabbatical leave. b. The amount of years of service in the District;
c. The length of time since his/her last sabbatical leave.
4. Such a teacher shall make reports of his/her activities pertaining to the reason(s) sabbatical leave was granted as may be requested by the Superintendent of Schools.
5. A teacher, upon return from sabbatical leave, shall be restored to his/her former position will be subject to the grievance/arbitration provisions of this Agreement.
Section 4: Before beginning the sabbatical leave, the teacher shall enter into a written agreement with the Committee that upon termination of such leave, he/she will return to service in the Xxxxxx Public Schools for a period equal to twice the length of such leave and that, in default of completing such service, he/she will refund to the City of Xxxxxx an amount equal to such proportion of salary received by him/her while on leave as the amount of service not actually rendered as agreed bears to the whole amount of service agreed to be rendered. Section 5: Requests for leave of absence shall be made, if possible, before November 1 of the school year previous to the school year for which leave of absence is requested, but in any event in a reasonably timely manner for action by the Committee.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject 1. Sabbatical leave shall be interpreted as leave from active duty, granted to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for teacher after seven (7) consecutive years service in the District mayKalkaska Public School System (or schools becoming a part of the system, prior to the date of this contract) for the purpose of improving instruction in the sole discretion and judgment of the Board, Kalkaska Public Schools. 6. Upon return from sabbatical leave, the teacher must submit an appropriate report to the Superintendent. If an abuse of the leave is apparent, the teacher shall reimburse the school district for an average appropriate amount of monies paid while on sabbatical leave and the right of return to the individual and to the school system;system shall be considered forfeited.

11. Upon return, the Board of Education shall place the teacher in the same position held before the leave.
12. If sabbatical leave is granted, all other provisions of reimbursement for educational travel credits shall be restored to his/her former position or substantially equivalent positionforfeited during the period of the sabbatical.

Sabbatical Leave. G. Not more than one (1) professional from the primary level, one (1) professional from the middle school level, and one (1) professional from the high school level, of the members of the total professional staff, shall be granted leave during any one (1) year. In the event that the number of applications received is in excess of the above-mentioned number of professional staff, the following factors will be taken into account in assigning leave:
1. educational value of the proposed project to the School Department and 2. priority of application (date).

Sabbatical Leave. 1. 7. Application for sabbatical leave shall be made in writing to the Superintendent of Schools on not later than March 15th or before May 1st of the school year October 15th, preceding the school year for term within which the leave is sought.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject 1. Upon application and at the discretion of the Interlocal Board, a teacher may be granted up to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, one
(1) year of paid sabbatical leave.
2. The Executive Director shall make a recommendation to the Interlocal Board regarding the teacher’s application. The Interlocal Board will decide whether to grant or deny the teacher’s application.
3. Paid sabbatical leave for fulfillment of scholastic requirements toward an additional degree in the area of Special or Vocational Education may be granted by the Interlocal Board to teachers who have been employed for seven completed ten (710) consecutive years of service in the District may, in the sole discretion and judgment Porter County Education Services. The granting of the Board, be granted a sabbatical leave shall be subject to the following conditions:
a. A maximum of one (1) eligible teacher per school year shall be granted sabbatical leave.

4. Payment for sabbatical leave shall be thirty (30%) percent of studythe teacher’s regular salary, travel or such other purposes as may be approved by based on the Boardsalary schedule in effect at the time the teacher is on leave. Requests Payment shall be made in writing one of the following ways, at the teacher’s option:
a. Fifty (50%) percent of payment shall be added to the Superintendent first regular school contract following the teacher’s return from sabbatical leave, and the remaining fifty (50%) percent of Schools payment shall be added to the second regular school contract following the teacher’s return from sabbatical leave; or,
b. The entire payment shall be made on the second pay in September or before May 1st the second pay in January of the school year preceding the school year teacher is on sabbatical leave, provided that the teacher has signed a secured promissory note for the payment amount, which note shall become due if the teacher does not complete two (2) years of service with the Interlocal under regular contract immediately following the sabbatical leave is soughtof absence.
1. The teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation for the period of absence one-half (1/2) of his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon his/her return to the District as a full-time teacher following sabbatical leave. Sabbatical Leave. Subject 16.1 Sabbatical leave shall be interpreted as leave from active duty granted to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for teacher after seven (7) consecutive years of professional service in the Oak Park School District mayfor professional improvement, as stated in the sole discretion and judgment School Code 1976 - MCLA Section 380.1235. A person re-employed after a termination of his or her employment relationship with Oak Park Schools will not be entitled to count years of service earned prior to his or her re-employment.
(c) The applicant has not been granted sabbatical leave of absence from the Board during the seven (7) consecutive years of service immediately preceding current application.
(d) The applicant sign an agreement to return to service with the Board immediately upon termination of sabbatical leave of absence and continues in writing such service for a period equivalent to the Superintendent of Schools on or before May 1st length of the school year preceding sabbatical leave, or to refund within sixty (60) days of his failure to return to or continue in service, any compensation received from the Board while on leave, except as the Board shall, by special action, waive such obligation.
(e) Application for sabbatical leave of absence must be filed in the Human Resources Department not later than November 1 or April 1 proceeding the semester when it is desired that the leave become effective.
(f) An applicant for sabbatical leave of absence shall file with the application form an outlined program for the period requested for sabbatical leave. This plan shall be indicated on an attached statement and shall include details of work to be pursued.
16.3 In determining his/her recommendations on requests for sabbatical leave, the Superintendent shall consider the following items:
(a) The extent of the applicant's professional study, growth, contributions, and successful service to the school year for which the leave is soughtdistrict.
1(b) The extent to which plans submitted for use of time on leave are definite and educationally constructive.
(c) Length of period of uninterrupted service in the Oak Park School District.
(d) Reasonable and equitable distribution of teacher applicants among the different levels and departments in the system.
(e) Availability of qualified replacement.
(f) Financial implications with regard to the total school budget.
16.4 Not more than six (6) semester units of sabbatical leave shall be granted to eligible applicants in any one school year. This may consist of full-year leaves, semester leaves, or any combination thereof.
16.5 In considering applications for sabbatical leave, preference shall be given to those qualified applicants who have not previously been granted such leave. Whenever, in the opinion of the Superintendent, the qualifications of two or more applicants for sabbatical leave are relatively equal, length of uninterrupted service in the Oak Park School District shall be the deciding factor.
16.6 Leave granted for professional study, for research, for work on publication, for travel combined with study, or for any other reasons which, in the opinion of the Superintendent, will improve instruction in the Oak Park School District or will improve the effectiveness of an employee, shall be considered consistent with the purposes of sabbatical leave.
16.7 Leave may be granted for, but not limited to, the purposes established in Section 16.6 above, or for any other reasons which in the opinion of the Superintendent are consistent with the priority goals of the Oak Park Schools.
16.8 The teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation for during the period of absence from regular duties one-half (1/2) of his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon hissalary that s/her return he would have received during the leave period.
16.9 The following conditions shall apply to the District as a full-time teacher following all teachers on sabbatical leave. :
(a) The sabbatical leave pay will be paid over the twelve (12) month period following return to teaching duties in the District.

a. The estimated value of the leave to the individual and to the school system;
b. The amount of years of service in the District;
c. The length of time since his/her last teacher while on sabbatical leave.

5. A 16.10 The teacher, upon return from sabbatical leave, shall be restored have the following privileges and benefits:
(a) Restored to his/her former position or substantially equivalent positionto a position of like nature.
(b) Be allowed increment credit on the salary schedule and seniority credit.
(c) Be allowed credit toward retirement for time spent on sabbatical leave, in accordance with rules and regulations established by the commission in control of the employees' retirement system of the State of Michigan and this Agreement.
16.11 An interim report shall be filed in the office of the Superintendent at the mid-point of the period for which the leave is taken. Upon return from sabbatical leave, a report must be submitted to the Superintendent containing transcripts of all college or university work completed while on leave and all other items of information pertinent to the evaluation of the program. Subject to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers (1) Certificated school personnel who have been employed served continuously and satisfactorily in the Manchester Regional High School for a period of at least seven (7) consecutive years in the District may, in on the sole discretion and judgment recommendation of the BoardSuperintendent of Schools, be granted a sabbatical leave of absence not exceeding one (1) year year.
(2) All requests for purpose of studysabbatical leave shall be submitted to the Superintendent, travel or in writing, in such other purposes form as may be approved mutually agreed upon by the Board. Requests shall be made in writing to Association and the Superintendent of Schools on or before May 1st no later than November 15 of the school year prior to the school year for which said leave is desired and action must be taken on all requests no later than February 1 of the school year prior to the school year for which said leave is requested.
(a) The form for a requested sabbatical leave shall include a detailed description of the proposed program, a statement of the relevance of the program to the teacher’s current duties and its perspective value to the district.
(b) All requests will be evaluated by the Superintendent, who will deny or recommend approval based on his/her sole and absolute discretion with respect to whether the request meets the criteria set forth in (a) above and will be of value and beneficial to the district.
(c) The evaluation and decision made by the Superintendent shall be final and conclusive subject only to the approval or disapproval by the Board.
(3) A teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive a salary equal to one half the annual salary to which he/she would have been entitled were he/she teaching in the school system that year. Salary payments will be made on the same basis as for regularly employed teachers.
(4) While on sabbatical leave, a teacher shall make the same payments into the Teacher Pension and Annuity Fund as would be made if teaching that year on full salary. The full twelve (12) month service credit is allowed for retirement and pension purposes. Teachers also shall make the regular payment based on full salary for the year to Contributory Life Insurance and are fully covered during the year.
(5) During a sabbatical leave a teacher accumulates sick leave and is eligible to use it at the contracted salary the same as if regularly employed. All other advantages of regular teaching also are available including Workmen’s Compensation coverage.
(6) No more than one teacher per year shall be granted a sabbatical leave. Notification of the action taken by the Board on requests for sabbatical leaves will be given in writing by February 1 of the school year immediately preceding the school year for which the leave request is soughtmade.
1. The (7) Before beginning a sabbatical leave, a teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation enter into a contract to return to active service in the Manchester Regional High School District for the a period of absence one-half at least three (1/23) years after the expiration of such leave. A teacher who does not comply with this agreement shall repay to the Board a sum bearing the same ratio to the amount of salary received while on leave of absence, that the unfulfilled portion of the three subsequent years’ service bears to the full three (3) years; provided, however, that the teacher shall be released from such payment if his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon failure to serve the three (3) years as stipulated be due to his/her return illness, disability, or death, or if he/she be discharged from his/her position.
(8) Prior to the District as beginning of the school year following the sabbatical leave, each teacher will be required to submit a full-time teacher following brief written report on the activities in which he/she engaged during the sabbatical leave. The sabbatical leave pay report should suggest ways in which the study will be paid over the twelve (12) month period following return of benefit to him/her in his/her teaching duties in the Districtassignment at Manchester Regional High School.
2. (9) A teacher on returning from a sabbatical leave shall receive be placed on the scheduled increments, and/or adjustments in step of the salary and credits the same as guide he/she would have received were attained had he/she occupying his/her regular assignments provided all requirements of sabbatical leave policy have been fulfilled. 8. The granting of an application for sabbatical leave which is otherwise in compliance with the terms and conditions of this article shall be in accordance with the following:
a. If requested during 1997-1998 for leave during 1998-1999, upon it shall be mandatory that the board approve the application.
b. If requested during 1998-1999 for leave during 1999-2000, it shall be mandatory that the board approve the application.
c. If requested during 1999-2000 for leave during 2000-2001, whether or not the application will be approved rests solely in the board’s discretion.
9. Persons who accept a sabbatical leave must sign a statement of intention to return to the Pemberton Township School System immediately following sabbatical leave for a period of two (2) years. Failure to comply with the two (2) year obligation will require repayment of the compensation received during the sabbatical leave as follows:
a. Repayment of total compensation received if a person does not return to the Pemberton Township Schools is due and payable on December 1st immediately following completion of the leave.
b. Repayment of one-half (1/2) of compensation received if a person returns for only one (1) year is due and payable on December 1st, one (1) year after the completion of the sabbatical leave.
10. Upon return from such leave, a teacher shall be placed on the salary scale at the level he would have achieved had he remained on active duty in the district, with recognition on the salary guide for any additional credits earned while on sabbatical leave. However, shall the school district does not guarantee a teacher the same position earned before taking sabbatical leave.
11. Applicants will be restored notified by the Board on or before April 1st as to his/her former position or substantially equivalent positionthe disposition of their applications.

4. Professional writing in a field directly related to the programs of Macomb Intermediate School District.

Subject M B U ’ s shall be eligible for sabbatical leave which s/he may take with the approval of the President for the purpose of advanced study, independent research or pursuance of a higher academic degree (post-baccalaureate) at the completion of six (6) years of employment. Sabbatical Leave. Subject (a) Sabbatical leave is to applicable Michigan statutory provisions allow a faculty member to develop as a scholar, researcher, professional and teacher in his/her discipline.

A teacherRecognizing that consistent instruction from highly effective staff is in the best educational interest of students and that absenteeism which requires a substitute redirects resources from the core mission of the district - educating children the parties agree to the following incentive to help support the education of our students. The amount spent on substitutes for teacher absence for the 2015-2016 school year will form the basis for calculations of the following shared benefit. Any reduction in the amount spent on substitute teachers in the 2016-2017, upon return 2017-2018, and 2018-2019 school years will be distributed using the following formula: Fifty (50%) of the savings will be retained by the district to support student learning. Sabbatical Leave. Subject to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for seven (71) consecutive years in the District The Board may, in the sole discretion and judgment upon request, grant Sabbatical Leave to members of the Boardteaching staff.

9) If a teacher fails to return after Sabbatical, or leaves prior to the end of Schools the forgiveness period, repayment, including interest at the Division's borrowing rate, shall be made on or before May September 1st of the school year preceding the school year for which the leave is sought.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject 1. 10. During an extended leave, policies providing benefits for current sick leave, bereavement and personal leaves will not apply. Accumulated sick leave available at the beginning of the leave will be preserved.
11. Subsequent leaves for professional growth may be requested at intervals of seven (7) years of continuous Cranford service.
12. Should the program of study or travel be interrupted by illness or injury and this fact is promptly reported to the Superintendent of Schools, such interruption shall not constitute a breach of agreement.
13. Should the Superintendent of Schools become informed that the purpose and requirements of leave are not being adequately fulfilled, he/she shall so advise the Board. The Board may terminate the leave as of the date of its violation and its decision shall be subject to the grievance procedure.

Sabbatical Leave. (a) The form for a requested sabbatical leave shall include a detailed description of the proposed program, a statement of the relevance of the program to the teacher’s current duties and its perspective value to the district.
(b) All requests will be evaluated by the Superintendent, who will deny or recommend approval based on his/her sole and absolute discretion with respect to whether the request meets the criteria set forth in (a) above and will be of value and beneficial to the district.
(c) The evaluation and decision made by the Superintendent shall be final and conclusive subject only to the approval or disapproval by the Board.
(3) A teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive a salary equal to one half the annual salary to which he/she would have been entitled were he/she teaching in the school system that year. Salary payments will be made on the same basis as for regularly employed teachers.
(4) While on sabbatical leave, a teacher shall make the same payments into the Teacher Pension and Annuity Fund as would be made if teaching that year on full salary. The full twelve (12) month service credit is allowed for retirement and pension purposes. Teachers also shall make the regular payment based on full salary for the year to Contributory Life Insurance and are fully covered during the year.
(5) During a sabbatical leave a teacher accumulates sick leave and is eligible to use it at the contracted salary the same as if regularly employed. All other advantages of regular teaching also are available including Workmen’s Compensation coverage.
(6) No more than one teacher per year shall be granted a sabbatical leave. Notification of the action taken by the Board on requests for sabbatical leaves will be given in writing by February 1 of the school year immediately preceding the school year for which the leave request is soughtmade.

The (7) Before beginning a sabbatical leave, a teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation enter into a contract to return to active service in the Manchester Regional High School District for the a period of absence one-half at least three (1/23) years after the expiration of such leave. The sabbatical leave pay report should suggest ways in which the study will be paid over the twelve (12) month period following return of benefit to him/her in his/her teaching duties in the Districtassignment at Manchester Regional High School.

(9) A teacher on returning from a sabbatical leave shall receive be placed on the scheduled increments, and/or adjustments in step of the salary and credits the same as guide he/she would have received were attained had he/she occupying his/her regular assignments provided all requirements of sabbatical leave policy have been fulfilled. 3. No more than one (1) teacher per school or one (1) special subject teacher shall be placed on sabbatical leave upon request.
4. During the period of sabbatical leave, a teacher may engage in remunerative employment and may accept grants or fellowships.
5. In order that all applicants be given equal consideration and in case the number of requests exceeds the limitation, the following criteria will be considered in selecting the candidates for sabbatical leave:
a. The merit of the objectives as they relate to improving the instructional programs;
b. years of teaching experience in the district;
c. Previous leave;
d. Reasonable distribution of applicants by schools;
e. Evidence of acceptance of the teacher's program or project by the institution offering the advanced study or research.
6. A teacher granted a sabbatical leave shall receive one-half his/her former base salary during such leave, provided however, that the sabbatical stipend when combined with grants, fellowships, etc. awarded to the teacher during leave does not exceed three- fourth's of his/her base salary. A teacher returning from sabbatical leave will be required to return to his/her position for at least two years or substantially equivalent positionreturn the salary paid. Continued service with the Winchester School District after the termination of the leave shall be prorated and credited against the teacher's obligation upon return from leave. To this end, each employee granted sabbatical leave shall be required to execute a promissory note at the commencement of leave memorializing this legal obligation. Such note shall provide that upon default, the employee shall be responsible for refunding all sums owed to the Board with interest and all costs of collection, including reasonable attorney's fees.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject Subd. 1. A sabbatical leave may be granted to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who in the School District for the purpose of professional improvement subject to Minnesota Statutes section 122A.49.
Subd. 2. To be eligible for sabbatical leave an individual must have been employed for seven at least six (76) consecutive years in the District may, School District.
Subd. 3. Sabbatical leave for study shall be limited to an individual centering his or her study in his or her area of employment in the sole discretion School District and judgment shall not be used for retraining in a new area unless at the request of the BoardSchool District.
Subd. 4. The proposed program of study must be approved in advance by the School District, and such program of study shall be granted a in formal educational course credits.
Subd. 5. Applications for sabbatical leave of one (1) year for purpose of study, travel or such other purposes as may be approved by the Board. Requests shall be made submitted in writing to the Superintendent superintendent of Schools on or before May schools at the earliest possible date, but in no case shall this be after January 1st of the school year preceding the school year for in which the leave is sought. The teacher applying for leave shall be notified of approval or non-approval within thirty (30) days of the deadline date.
1Subd. 6. The number of teachers on sabbatical leave shall be limited to three teachers in any one year. The granting of sabbatical leave, however, is purely within the discretion of the
Subd. 7. The allowance granted to a teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive as compensation for the period of absence be one-half (1/2) of his/her regularly scheduled salary, contingent upon his/her return to the District as a fullbasic agreement salary (not including any extra-time teacher following curricular pay) of the individual for the school term in which the application for sabbatical leaveleave is made. The sabbatical leave pay will stipend shall be paid over to the twelve (12) month period following teacher upon return to teaching duties the School District. Subd. 8. A teacher who is granted a sabbatical leave must return to teach in the School District for two (2) full years following the termination of leave. If the teacher's service is discontinued for any reason other than the individual's incapacity determined by the physician or by discontinuance of position by School District action pursuant to this Agreement, before the expiration of the two (2) years, the teacher shall pay back to the School District, in full, the sabbatical allowance which was provided.
Subd. 9. The application for a sabbatical leave shall contain a detailed description of the intended activity and expected benefit to the School District, including, but not limited to, the institution where study will take place, courses and number of credits to be carried, and all other details surrounding the program.
Subd. 10. The School District may grant sabbatical leave upon the condition that a satisfactory substitute can be secured by March 1 of the school year preceding the year for which leave is being requested.
Subd. 11. Upon completion of a sabbatical leave the individual shall be assigned to a position commensurate with the one the teacher occupied prior to the leave.
Subd. 12. A teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive retain such amount of sick leave days and other accrued benefits which the scheduled incrementsteacher had accrued, and/or adjustments in salary and credits if any, at the same as he/she would have received were he/she occupying his/her regular assignments provided all requirements of time the teacher went on sabbatical leave policy have been fulfilled. During the sabbatical leave, for use upon his or her return pursuant to the sick leave policy will not apply except policy. No additional sick leave shall accrue for accumulation of sick days, and the Board will continue to make insurance payments.

Sabbatical Leave. Subject to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for seven (71) consecutive years in the District The Board may, in the sole discretion and judgment upon request, grant Sabbatical Leave to members of the Boardteaching staff.
2) Sabbatical Leave may, upon request, be granted to a sabbatical leave maximum of one (1teacher per year.
3) Where all other considerations are very nearly equal, seniority shall be the basis for awarding Sabbatical Leave.
4) All applications must be submitted not later than February 1st of the year for purpose of study, travel or such other purposes as may in which consideration is asked.
5) Remuneration while on Sabbatical Leave shall be approved the current basic salary received by the teacher when leave was granted – calculated to a maximum of $47,300.00 effective July 1st, 2004, and such amount to be adjusted annually by the average percentage change negotiated under 3:03.
6) Sabbatical Leave will be granted for further academic study. The merit of the particular program chosen should be set forth by the teacher applying in a letter to the Board. Requests .
7) Teachers with five (5) years seniority in the Division may qualify.
8) Payment of the award shall be made on a monthly basis in writing the same manner as it is presently for teachers on staff. Payment of the award will be made with the provision that the teacher shall return to the Superintendent Division. If the teacher desires to seek employment elsewhere, the teacher shall repay the amount received as set out below:
a) If not returning – full payment
b) If returning for one year only – 75%
c) If returning for two years only – 50%
d) If returning for three years – NIL
9) If a teacher fails to return after Sabbatical, or leaves prior to the end of Schools the forgiveness period, repayment, including interest at the Division’s borrowing rate, shall be made on or before May September 1st of the school year preceding the school year for which the leave is sought.

Sabbatical Leave. a) Subject to applicable Michigan statutory the Illinois School Code and the provisions and any amendments theretocontained herein, teachers who have been employed for seven (7) consecutive years in the District may, in the sole discretion and judgment of the Board, sabbatical leave will be granted to one (1) teacher per year after completion of at least six (6) years of satisfactory service as a sabbatical full-time teacher and may again be granted after completion of a subsequent period of six (6) years of such service. A leave granted for a period of one (1) school year or less shall bar a further sabbatical leave until completion of six (6) years of additional satisfactory service.
b) The leave shall be conditioned upon a plan for purpose of resident study, travel research, travel, or such other purposes as may proposed by the applicant and deemed by the Board to benefit the District, which plan must be approved by the Board and not thereafter modified without the approval of the Board.
c) Such leave may be granted for a period of at least four (4) school months but not in excess of one (1) school year. Requests Before a leave is granted pursuant to and in accordance with these provisions, the applicant shall agree in writing that if, at the expiration of such leave, they do not return to and perform contractual continued service in the District for at least two (2) school years after their return, all sums of money received from the Board during their sabbatical leave will be refunded to the Board unless such return and performance are prevented by illness or incapacity.
d) Applications for leave shall be made in writing to the Superintendent of Schools on or before May 1st prior to October 15th for leave during the second semester of the current school year preceding year, and prior to January 15th for leave during the next school year for which the leave is soughtyear. The Board will make its determination by December 15th and March 15th in each case respectively.
1. The e) During absence pursuant to such leave, such teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive the same basic salary as compensation if in actual service, from which there shall be deducted an amount equivalent to the amount payable for substitute service. However, such salary, after deduction for substitute service, shall not be less than the period of absence minimum salary provided by the School Code (ch. 122, Ill. Rev. Stat., 24-8) or one-half (1/2) of his/her regularly scheduled the basic salary, contingent upon his/her return whichever is greater.
f) A teacher on leave shall not engage in any activity for which salary or compensation is paid unless the activity is directly related to the District as purpose for which the leave is granted and approved by the Board. Unless justified by illness or incapacity, failure of a full-time teacher following sabbatical granted a leave pursuant to and in accordance with the provision to devote the entire period to the purposes for which the leave was granted shall constitute a cause for removal from teaching service.
g) Upon expiration of a leave granted pursuant to and in accordance with these provisions and upon presentation of evidence satisfactory to the Board showing compliance with the conditions of the leave, the teacher shall be returned to a position equivalent to that formerly occupied. The sabbatical leave pay will be paid over tenure of the twelve (12) month period following return to teaching duties in the District.
2. A teacher on sabbatical leave shall receive not be affected.
h) Absence during a leave granted pursuant to and in accordance with these provisions shall not be construed as a discontinuance of service for any purpose, including progression on the scheduled incrementssalary schedule. The Board shall pay the contribution to the Teacher’s Retirement System required of the teacher on leave computed on the annual full-time salary rate under which the member last received earnings immediately prior to the leave, and/or adjustments in salary and credits the same as he/she would have received were he/she occupying his/her regular assignments provided all requirements or a proportionate part of such rate for a partial year of sabbatical leave policy have been fulfilled. Sabbatical Leave. Subject to applicable Michigan statutory provisions and any amendments thereto, teachers who have been employed for seven (7) consecutive years in the District may, in the sole discretion and judgment of the Board, A teacher may be granted a sabbatical leave of one (under the following conditions:
1) year . Must have completed 7 consecutive years in the district, or if on leave during those seven years, must have maintained an employee relationship.
2. Requests for purpose of studysuch leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing, travel or such other purposes as may be approved on appropriate forms designated by the Board, not later than January 10 of the year preceding the proposed sabbatical leave.
3. Requests Action on such request will be taken by March 15 of the year preceding the proposed leave.
4. The teacher must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and be engaged in a formal program leading to an advanced degree leading to a specialization that is needed by the district.
5. Teachers may request leave on a basis other than the criteria established herein. However, such requests must contain significant rationale setting forth the value of such leave to the district.
6. Upon return from the sabbatical leave, the teacher shall be made placed on the salary schedule at the level that he/she would have achieved had he/she remained actively employed in the system during the term of his/her absence.
7. A teacher granted sabbatical leave must agree in writing to continue working in the Superintendent of Schools on district for at least (2) two years following the leave. If the teacher does not fulfill this commitment and leaves Kensington in the first year, he or before May 1st of she will remit to the school year preceding board the school year for which the leave is sought.
