22.7 Prior to granting of a sabbatical leave, a teacher shall enter into written Agreement with the Superintendent that upon the termination of such leave, he/she will return to service in the Swansea School System for a single-semester period equal to twice the length of the leave and that, in default of completing such service, the teacher shall refund to the Town of Swansea an amount equal to such proportion of salary received by him while on leave as the amount of such service not actually rendered as agreed bears to the whole amount of service agreed to be rendered.
22.8 Upon his return from sabbatical or eightyleave, a teacher's salary shall be the same as he/she would have received had the period of his/her leave been spent in the Swansea School System, and the teacher shall be returned to the same position which he/she held at the time said leave commenced, if available, or, if not, to a substantially equivalent position.
22.9 Teachers on sabbatical leave shall not be eligible for tuition reimbursement as defined in Article XXX, Paragraph 30.9.

G. The teacher returning from a one (1) year sabbatical leave will have their accumulated sick leave account, prior to the sabbatical leave, credited with fifty percent (50%)of the allowed sick days for that year.
14.10.3 If recommended applications exceed two and one-half H. 1. No more than one (1) certified teacher may be on a sabbatical leave as provided for at any one time.
2. The teacher must have completed at least nine (9) consecutive years of service in Section 14.10.7 the Hampton Township School District, in a position requiring certification.
3. A teacher on sabbatical leave shall be submitted paid by the Board of Education at the rate of 50% of their full time equivalent pay for a full year sabbatical leave.
4. Request for sabbatical leave must be received by the Chief School Administrator in writing no later than January 1, and action by the Board must be taken on all such requests no later than March 1 of the school year preceding the school year for which the sabbatical leave is requested. The application shall contain the following:
A. A detailed description of the sabbatical study program and its significance as a contribution to the Chief Instructional Officer or designee on or before January 15 school district, stated in terms of objectives related to our school district's philosophy and programs.
B. The relationship of the preceding academic yearstudy program to the applicant's long-range professional objectives.
14.10.3 If recommended applications exceed two and one-half (2.5) percent5. Sabbatical Leave. 1. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves will be limited 7-4.1 Desiring to reward professional growth activities; i.e.performance and encourage independent research and achievement, activities which subsequently relate the Board hereby initiates the policy of sabbatical leave for teachers for approved scholarly programs whether or not carried on in an academic institution, subject to the person's assignmentfollowing conditions. (a) Not more than one teacher in the Kent elementary school shall be absent on sabbatical leave at any one time.

(c) The teacher has completed at least seven consecutive full school years of service in the school district.

(2.5f) Basic Salary paid teachers on sabbatical leave will be advanced upon a personal note, repayable within two years from completion of the agreed study period if the individual fails to return for the required one or two years. The note which the teacher shall execute shall include the obligation to pay the Board's reasonable attorney’s fees in the event the teacher fails to return from sabbatical leave or leaves the Board's employ prior to the expiration of the required one or two-year period. Such note shall be reduced on a pro rata basis and shall be automatically canceled upon completion of the agreed term of post-study employment or upon permanent disability or death of the teacher. For example, ten (10) percent of the regular full-time bargaining unit members may be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic year. The Governing Board may, at its sole discretion, approve or disapprove sabbatical leaves. Sabbatical Leave. Section 1 A Sabbatical leaves Leave may be granted by the Superintendent for advance study or research to teachers who have completed seven (7) consecutive years of service in the District, where such experience would, in the opinion of the Superintendent, increase the teacher's professional ability.
Section 2 Personnel requesting such leave must submit their applications in writing through the school principal to the Superintendent of Schools not later than November 1 of the school year preceding the school year for which the leave is requested. Action shall be taken on all such requests not later than January 1.

Sabbatical Leave. 12-1 Sabbatical leaves will leave: A teacher may be limited granted sabbatical leave under the following conditions:
12-1.1 Must have completed seven years' service in the district; the last four (4) years must have been consecutive.
12-1.2 Requests for sabbatical leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing on such forms as designated by the Board no later than November 1st, and action must be taken on all such requests no later than December 15th of the school year preceding the school year for which the sabbatical leave is requested.
12-1.3 The teacher must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and be engaged in a formal program leading to professional growth activities; i.e.an advanced degree leading to a specialization which is needed by the district.
12-1.4 The degree requirements must be completed during the period of sabbatical leave if the program is for work toward either a Master's Degree or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Specialization. The above policy shall be waived for those persons engaged in a program leading to a Doctorate Degree.
12-1.5 Requests for sabbatical leave on a basis other than the criteria established herein shall be given consideration and nothing contained herein shall prohibit the Board from granting such leaves. However, activities which subsequently relate such requests must contain significant rationale setting forth the value of such leave to the person's assignmentdistrict. 38.1 Upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, sabbatical leaves may be granted to members of the bargaining unit by the BOARD. Should the Superintendent fail to recommend sabbatical leave(s), the teacher(s), involved may appeal the Superintendent's decision directly to the BOARD.
38.2 The BOARD will budget for three (3) sabbatical leaves annually. The BOARD may grant up to three (3) sabbaticals annually based on the merit of these requests. 14.10.1 Application for 38.3 No more than three (3) sabbatical leaves will be made granted simultaneously.
38.4 The teacher must have completed five (5) consecutive years in the Portsmouth School System.
38.5 The teacher will be paid half salary with full benefits for a one-year leave or full pay and benefits for a half-year leave.
38.6 Requests for leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing using no later than February 1, and action must be taken by the appropriate formBOARD no later than March 15.
38.7 Teachers who have been granted a sabbatical in March recognize that the sabbatical may be delayed until a suitable teaching replacement can be found. Sabbatical Leave. Section 35.1 Sabbatical leaves leave will be limited to professional growth activities; i.e.available after seven (7) years of service in the Billerica Public Schools. Normally sabbatical leave will only be granted for advanced study in a formal C.A.G.S. or Doctoral Program in an accredited college or university. However, activities which subsequently relate it may be granted for other programs in cases where such granting will clearly result in a unique benefit to the person's assignmentschool system.
Section 35.2 Requests must be received by the Superintendent of Schools in writing not later than June 1, of the calendar year preceding the year in which the leave is sought. Sabbatical leave requests may be denied for financial reasons if it appears to the School Committee that teachers (professional status or non-professional status) may have to be laid off for financial reasons at the time the sabbatical leave is proposed to be in effect.
Section 35.3 Successful applicants will receive seventy-five percent (75%) of the salary to which they would have been entitled provided that the amount, when coupled with any scholarship, grant or aid, shall not exceed the salary to which they would have been entitled.
Section 35.4 Not more than one percent (1%) of teachers covered by this Agreement may take advantage of this in any one school year.
Section 35.5 Before beginning a sabbatical leave, a teacher shall agree in writing to return to active service in the Billerica schools for a period of at least two (2) school years following the expiration of the sabbatical leave period. A maximum teacher who does not fulfill this Agreement shall repay to the Town of Billerica within a three (3) year calendar period, the amount of salary received during the sabbatical leave, or the pro rata proportion thereof as the time worked bears to the two (2) school years. Provided, however, that the teacher shall be released from such payment if his failure to serve the two (2) years is due to his illness, disability, death, or if he is discharged from his service by the School Committee.
Section 35.6 A teacher returning from Sabbatical leave shall be placed in a comparable position and one-half (2.5) percent on the step of the regular full-time bargaining unit members salary schedule he would have attained had he remained in the school system, and may be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic year. The Governing Board may, at its sole discretion, approve or disapprove sabbatical leaves. If a regular faculty member receives an overall evaluation of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory,” that faculty member will not be eligible for insurance benefits according to the Town policy while on leave. The report must be received by the Faculty Senate no later than Friday of the fourth week of instruction, after the return to regular assignment, as shown on the current Academic Calendar. The report must be received by the chief instructional officer no later than Friday of the eighth week of instruction. Due to special circumstances, a time extension may be granted by the chief instructional officer. Failure to carry out the sabbatical plan as approved by the Governing Board, and/or to file the required report, will result in leave pay repayment to the District.
14.10.7 A sabbatical leave may be granted in separate units rather than for a continuous combined leave, provided it shall be commenced and completed within a three (3) year period. Faculty members applying for sabbatical leave must indicate at the time of application if the sabbatical leave is to be taken in separate units or for a continuous combined leave.
14.10.8 Every bargaining unit member, as a condition of being granted a sabbatical leave of absence, shall agree in writing to render a period of service which is equal to twice the period of the leave in the employ of the Governing Board of the District after returning from the leave of absence.
14.10.9 The bargaining unit member shall be compensated while on sabbatical leave in the same manner as if the member was on duty in the District. The bargaining unit member shall provide the District with a suitable bond equal to the paid salary, fringe benefits, and retirement contribution. The bond shall indemnify the District against loss in the event the member fails to return to service for a period equal to twice the time on sabbatical leave or fails to comply with the provisions of the approved sabbatical plan. This bond shall be received by the Office of Human Resources no later than sixty (60) calendar days prior to the start of the sabbatical. Otherwise, the sabbatical is denied. Due to special circumstances, a time extension may be granted by the chief instructional officer or designee. Should the faculty member not return to the District, not serve the requisite term after returning, or otherwise fail to fulfill the obligation, that person shall repay the District the full salary received while on sabbatical, plus fringe benefits and retirement contributions, paid by the District. Should the faculty member return for a portion of the required period, the repayment shall be reduced proportionately. 14.10.5 One hundred (100) percent ▇. During the course of the base salary for sabbatical leave, brief monthly progress reports shall be made to the Superintendent of Schools.
K. The teacher returning from sabbatical leave shall submit a single-semester sabbatical report to the Superintendent of Schools containing transcripts of all college or eightyuniversity work done on leave and all other items of information pertinent to an evaluation of higher progress.

Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical 8.1 In the interest of regarding professional performance and encouraging independent research, achievement and professional growth, the Superintendent may grant sabbatical leaves to teachers employed on a full-time basis as follows:
8.1.1 Not more than two (2) teachers may be absent on sabbatical leave at any one time.
8.1.2 Only those teachers who have completed seven (7) years of professional service in the Uxbridge School System shall be eligible for sabbatical leave, and no teacher having been on sabbatical leave shall again be eligible until he/she has completed seven (7) years of professional service in Uxbridge after return from such leave.
8.1.3 Any teacher who desires to apply for sabbatical leave shall submit such application by February 1 to the Superintendent in writing in such form as the Superintendent may require by generally applicable regulation
8.1.4 In considering an application for sabbatical leave, the Superintendent will be limited apply the following criteria: years of service of applicant, number of years application has been submitted, type of research or study planned, educational value of proposed research or study to Uxbridge system and relationship to professional growth activities; i.e.of applicant and urgency of proposed research or study and availability of financial resources.
8.1.5 The Superintendent shall make his/her decision not later than the April 1 following the submission of the application.
8.2 Any teacher accepting sabbatical leave shall enter into a written agreement with the Committee in accordance with Chapter 71, activities which subsequently relate Section 41S of the General Laws of Massachusetts.
8.3 When the sabbatical leave has been completed, the teacher shall submit a report of his/her research or study to the person's assignment. Superintendent in such form as has been determined by the Superintendent.
8.4 The Superintendent will inform any teacher on sabbatical leave of opportunity for advancement and promotion and such teacher shall be considered for such advancement or promotion in the same manner as those who are presently in service.

Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical A sabbatical leave is a leave of absence given to a teacher to pursue a course of studies, either academic or professional in nature, that will benefit the school and/ or Board priorities; undertake any other activity of an educational or rehabilitative nature that may include travel or any combination of the above.
14.1 A teacher with ten or more years of continuous service may apply for sabbatical leave, and the leave may be granted under either of the following conditions:
14.1.1 Five (5) months at 50% of the salary he/ she would earn were he/ she actively engaged in teaching, such salary to exclude supervisory or administrative allowances.
14.1.2 Ten (10) months leave at 25% of the salary he/ she would earn were he/ she actively engaged in teaching, such
14.2 A selection committee comprised of two Board members, three teachers, appointed by the NWTA LINC, and the Director of Education who shall chair the selection committee shall:

3. The administrator has completed at least five (5) consecutive full school years of service in the Westfield School System.
4. Administrators on sabbatical leave will be paid at fifty percent (50%) of their regular salary rate, provided that such pay when added to any program grant will not exceed the regular salary rate.
5. The administrator will agree to return to employment in the Westfield School System for one (1) full year in Section 14.10.7 a semester’s leave or two (2) full years in the event of a full year’s leave.
6. If the administrator does not perform this agreement, the employee shall repay to the City of Westfield a sum representing one twentieth (1/20th ) of the total salary received while on sabbatical leave of absence for each month of the two (2) year period following the sabbatical leave that said administrator does not perform the employee’s duties for the Westfield Public Schools; provided, however, that the administrator may be released from such payment if the employee’s failure to serve the two (2) years as stipulated be due to the employee’s illness, disability, death, or layoff. Sabbatical Leave. 12-1 Sabbatical leaves will leave: A Teacher may be limited granted sabbatical leave under the following conditions:
12-1.1 Must have completed seven years' service in the District; the last four (4) years must have been consecutive.
12-1.2 Requests for sabbatical leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing on such forms as designated by the Board no later than November 1st, and action must be taken on all such requests no later than December 15th of the school year preceding the school year for which the sabbatical leave is requested.
12-1.3 The Teacher must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and be engaged in a formal program leading to professional growth activities; i.e.an advanced degree leading to a specialization which is needed by the District.
12-1.4 The degree requirements must be completed during the period of sabbatical leave if the program is for work toward either a Master's Degree or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Specialization. The above policy shall be waived for those persons engaged in a program leading to a Doctorate Degree.
12-1.5 Requests for sabbatical leave on a basis other than the criteria established herein shall be given consideration and nothing contained herein shall prohibit the Board from granting such leaves. However, activities which subsequently relate such requests must contain significant rationale setting forth the value of such leave to the person's assignmentDistrict. 18.11.4 Sabbatical leave may be granted for study, research, or any professionally advantageous activity.
18.11.5 Applications for sabbatical leave shall be submitted in writing to the Chief Instructional Officer Superintendent no later than January 15th of the year preceding the school year in which the leave is sought and will be approved or designee on or before January disapproved for recommendation to the Board by the Superintendent. Monies paid the requested teacher while on leave presents shall be considered as a loan secured by a Promissory Note made payable to the ▇▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Central School District. Such note shall be cancelled in the event of death or permanent disability at any major difficulties time prior to two years following the ending of the leave. It shall be cancelled at the rate o f 50% for each year of service during the two years immediately following the end o f the leave. Under special circumstances a teacher may be granted leave without pay and the time limit extended for the ongoing activity cancellation of the educational programnote. Sabbatical Leave. A. After service with the Board for a period of seven (7) years, a teacher may apply for a one- or two- semester sabbatical leave.
B. During such sabbatical leave, a teacher may be deemed to be in the employ of the Board and will receive the equivalent of half salary and existing fringe benefits.
C. Sabbatical leaves leave will be limited for the purpose of study on an approved program developed with the administration and a committee consisting of one elementary, one junior high, and one senior high teacher, plus one secondary and one elementary principal. 14.10.5 One hundred (100) percent of the base salary teachers. If a request for sabbatical is denied, the denying body (committee or Board) will give the reason(s) in writing, with copies furnished to the teacher and the Association.
E. Upon return from sabbatical leave, a teacher will assume a teaching position similar to the one occupied when going away.
F. The person on sabbatical signs a formal agreement to return to employment with the Board for a singleminimum period of one (1) year. The above agreement shall stipulate that, failing to return to the Board for the one-semester year minimum, the teacher shall reimburse the Board for the full amount paid the teacher during the sabbatical or eightyleave.
G. If a sabbatical leave is contemplated for the following school year, the teacher should file in the Personnel Office the initial application for sabbatical leave by November 15. All of the final letters of recommendation and the outlined plan of the complete sabbatical leave program will be submitted by the teacher to the Personnel Office by January 15. As a result of the information provided, the Sabbatical Leave Committee will meet to form a recommendation to the Board. The Board will take action on the committee's recommendations at the April meeting.

Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves leave may, upon the Super- intendent's recommendation, be available to instructional personnel under the following conditions:
(1) Not more than two percent (2%) of qualified and eligible employees may be granted such leave in any one year.
(2) The application shall be in writing and state information or purpose, specific plans, and program to be pursued.
(3) The Superintendent ▇▇▇▇ ordinarily approve applications in the order of submission dates; however, he/she may deviate from this if in his/her judgment it would work a hardship upon the system. The Superintendent may refuse to approve an application if, in his/her judgment, the planned program is less than full time or is inadequate or inappropriate.
(4) Sabbatical leave shall not exceed the equivalent of a school year of forty (40) weeks. If extenuating conditions suggest that such leave be divided into two (2) discontinuous half-year school periods of twenty (20) weeks each, the approval of the Superintendent will be limited necessary.
(5) One (1) year of sabbatical leave may be granted after seven (7) years of satisfactory professional service in the Wyandotte Public School System. In the event a request for a sabbatical leave, regardless of its length, is granted, another request for a sabbatical leave from the same employee shall not be considered until the passage of another seven (7) years of continuous professional service in this system.
(6) Such leave may be granted provided that the employee agrees to professional growth activities; i.e., activities which subsequently relate return to the personWyandotte Public School System for a period of not less than two (2) years after completion of the leave. In granting this leave, a reasonable attempt will be made to reserve the teacher's assignment. A maximum position, if he/she so requests, for his/her return.
(7) Upon completion of two and sabbatical leave, the employee shall present to the Superintendent's satisfaction evidence of completion of the planned program submitted under Section 3 of this Article.
(8) Upon completion of sabbatical leave the employee shall at his/her request be allowed to return to the specific position vacated as soon as practicable unless the position has been discontinued.
(9) An employee on sabbatical leave shall be paid one-half (2.51/2) percent of the salary being received by him/her at the time such leave is granted. Said sum shall be payable to the employee in accordance with regular full-time bargaining unit members may be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic yearpayroll procedures established by the Board. (b) The Principal on sabbatical leave as provided may receive compensation equal to the difference between his annual salary and total amount of any grants or financial assistance the Principal may have received from outside sources for the purposes of this sabbatical studies. However, in Section 14.10.7 no event, shall the amount of compensation exceed two-thirds (2/3) of the annual salary which the Principal would have received had he remained in the School District for that year. The terms “grants or financial assistance” shall not include the required tuition or book expenses, where such can be verified.
(c) A request for a sabbatical leave shall be submitted made at least two months before the start of the leave.
(d) Before beginning a sabbatical leave, the Principal shall enter into a written agreement with the Superintendent to return to active service in the Clinton Public Schools for a period of at least two (2) years after the expiration of such leave. The Principal who defaults in completing this two-year requirement shall repay the Town of Clinton a proportional amount of the compensation received, based on the amount of the required two years the Principal actually serviced. For example, if only one year was served, then one half of the compensation received would be owed. However, the Principal may be released from such payment if his failure to serve the required two (2) years was due to his illness, disability, or death or if the employee has been discharged by the School District.
(e) Not more than one Principal shall be granted leave during any one (1) year. In the event that the number of Principal applicants exceed the number mentioned above, the following factors will be taken into account in approving sabbatical leave:
(i) Educational value of the proposed project to the Chief Instructional Officer School District; and
(ii) Date of application.
(f) Within one month of his return, the Principal must submit to the Superintendent a report containing transcripts of all college or designee university work done while on leave, together with any other pertinent or before January 15 interpretive material considered essential to an evaluation of the preceding academic year.

The Governing Board mayteacher will be restored to the same position, at its sole discretion, approve if requested in writing by June 1 or disapprove sabbatical leaves. If a regular faculty member receives an overall evaluation of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory,” that faculty member will not be eligible for a sabbatical leave unless and until the faculty member’s evaluation has been determined to be satisfactory. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical 38.1 Upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, sabbatical leaves may be granted to members of the bargaining unit by the BOARD. Should the Superintendent fail to recommend sabbatical leave(s), the teacher(s), involved may appeal the Superintendent's decision directly to the BOARD.
38.2 The BOARD will budget for three (3) sabbatical leaves annually. The BOARD may grant up to three (3) sabbaticals annually based on the merit of these requests. If denied, reasons in writing will be limited to professional growth activities; i.e., activities which subsequently relate sent to the person's assignment. 38.4 The teacher must have completed five (5) consecutive years in the Portsmouth School System.
38.5 The teacher will be paid half salary with full benefits for a one-year leave or full pay and benefits for a half-year leave.
38.6 Requests for leave must be received by the Superintendent in writing using no later than February 1, and action must be taken by the appropriate formBOARD no later than March 15.
38.7 Teachers who have been granted a sabbatical in March recognize that the sabbatical may be delayed until a suitable teaching replacement can be found. By October 1 A final determination will be made no less than three weeks before the sabbatical is scheduled to begin. Any determination to delay a sabbatical shall not be subject to the grievance procedure outlined in Article 32.

5. The teacher granted such leave as provided shall have the option of retaining full medical and life insurance benefits at his/her own expense. Upon return to duty, said teacher will be credited with all unused sick leave accumulated prior to having been granted such leave and will be credited with the number of years previously acquired in salary steps.
6. The Board recognizes the need for continuity of program and will restore the teacher upon his/her return to the original discipline in Section 14.10.7 which he/she taught at the time of application for such leave. All extra-duty compensated positions may be continued through the leave at the discretion of the Headmaster after consultation with the teacher making application for leave.
7. No more than two teachers may be granted such leave during the academic year under the following financial conditions:
a. When only one person is granted said leave, he/she shall be submitted to continuously paid seventy- five percent (75%) of his/her base salary at the Chief Instructional Officer or designee on or before January 15 time of application for leave in twenty-six (26) equal installments commencing in the first paycheck of the preceding academic school year. At the completion of one year's return to duty, said teacher shall receive twenty-five percent (25%) of the teacher's base salary at the time of application for leave in a lump sum payment with the final paycheck in June.
b. When two persons are granted said leave, each shall be continuously paid fifty percent (50%) of his/her base salary at the time of application for leave in twenty-six (26) equal installments commencing in the first paycheck of the school year.
14.10.3 If recommended applications exceed 8. Any teacher granted a sabbatical leave by Woodstock Academy shall agree in writing, within fifteen (15) days of formal notification of approval of said leave, to return to Woodstock Academy for two and one-half (2.52) percentconsecutive years commencing with the school year following said leave. Should said teacher fail to return to Woodstock Academy as stated above, first priority will be greater number of years of consecutive service without a sabbatical; second priority will be lesser number of previous sabbaticals; third priority will be seniority (based on seniority number)the teacher agrees to reimburse Woodstock Academy for salary costs incurred by the Board during the sabbatical leave.
14.10.4 The bargaining unit members' pay will be computed a) Return for two (2) consecutive academic years: no reimbursement;
b) Return for one (1) year: fifty percent (50%) of all salary paid by the Board to the teacher on sabbatical leave; and
c) No return: one hundred percent (100%) of all salary paid by the bargaining unit members' base salary Board to the teacher on the appropriate contract/regular salary schedulesabbatical leave.

11.1 A teacher who has completed seven years' service in the person's assignment. A maximum of two and one-half (2.5) percent of the regular full-time bargaining unit members may be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic year. The Governing Board Skaneateles Central School District may, at its sole the discretion of the Board of Education, be granted a regular sabbatical leave of one year at half pay or one half year at full pay for the following purposes:
a. to study at an accredited institution;
b. to travel for the purpose of research in language and customs of a foreign country;
c. To research material germane to one's subject area.
11.2 In lieu of a regular sabbatical leave, a teacher may apply for a summer sabbatical leave for the purpose of study at an accredited institution. Summer sabbatical leave shall be for a period of three (3) consecutive ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. The salary for each of the respective ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall be one-sixth (l/6) of the teacher's annual salary during the preceding school year. A candidate for a regular sabbatical leave may, as an alternative option, request a summer sabbatical if it appears that equivalent objectives could be obtained through that procedure. Interest in this alternative option must be stated and included in the original request. Such request is to be submitted to the Board of Education by March 1 of the year preceding such leave. Spring semester sabbaticals are to be submitted to the Board by November 1 and answered by December 15. The improvement of the educational program at Skaneateles Central School in specific reference to the educational welfare of the pupils, shall be the predetermining condition for evaluating the validity of the request. Requests for sabbatical leave shall include a written proposal including detailed and specific information to justify the request in terms of the above stated criteria. The prospective candidate may be required to appear before the Board to explain the purposes of his leave. A candidate is to be informed of the action on his request no later than April 15. A candidate is to signify to the Board no later than April 30, preceding the leave, of acceptance or rejection of the leave. No more than one teacher from each area, Elementary, Middle or High School, or a maximum of three; at the Board's discretion, approve may have regular leave at any one time; but no set numerical limit will apply to the summer leave. The approval of the sabbatical will include in writing the agreement of the teacher to return to his teaching duties in Skaneateles Central School for at least one year. A denial of sabbatical by the Board will be accompanied by an explanation or disapprove sabbatical leavesreason for denial in writing. 11.3 In the event the Board of Education of the Skaneateles Central School District does not grant either a regular faculty member receives an overall evaluation of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory,” that faculty member will not be eligible for a sabbatical leave unless and until or a summer sabbatical leave, the faculty member’s evaluation has been determined Board agrees to provide five (5) $200.00 stipends during the life of this agreement. The stipends are to be satisfactoryused by permanently certified members of the negotiating unit for administratively approved graduate level courses for the express purpose of strengthening the teacher's background in specific, identified areas related to his or her teaching assignment at Skaneateles Central School District. Application for the stipends must be submitted no later than May 15, of the school year preceding the summer during which the graduate level course work will be taken. The application will indicate what graduate level courses will be taken, the institution where the course is offered, together with a statement identifying how the course specifically relates to the teacher's assignment. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves will be limited 7-5.1 Desiring to reward professional growth activities; i.e.performance and encourage independent research and achievement, activities which subsequently relate the Board hereby initiates the policy of sabbatical leave for teachers for approved scholarly programs whether or not carried on in an academic institution, subject to the person's assignmentfollowing conditions. (e) The teacher shall agree to return to employment in the ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Public Schools for one full year for each one-half year's leave. Upon such return the teacher shall be placed on the appropriate step in the salary schedule as though such teacher had not been on leave.
(2.5f) Basic salary paid teachers on sabbatical leave will be advanced upon a personal note, repayable within two years from completion of the agreed study period if the individual fails to return for the required one or two years. The note which the teacher shall execute shall include the obligation to pay the Board's reasonable attorneys fees in the event the teacher fails to return from sabbatical leave or leaves the Board's employ prior to the expiration of the required one or two year period. Such note shall be reduced on a pro-rata basis and shall be automatically canceled upon completion of the agreed term of post-study employment or upon permanent disability or death of the teacher. For example, ten (10%) percent of the regular full-time bargaining unit members may be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic year. 12-1.3 The Teacher must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and be engaged in a formal program leading to professional growth activities; i.e.an advanced degree leading to a specialization which is needed by the District.
12-1.4 The degree requirements must be completed during the period of sabbatical leave if the program is for work toward either a Master’s Degree or a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Specialization. The above policy shall be waived for those persons engaged in a program leading to a Doctorate Degree.
12-1.5 Requests for sabbatical leave on a basis other than the criteria established herein shall be given consideration and nothing contained herein shall prohibit the Board from granting such leaves. However, activities which subsequently relate such requests must contain significant rationale setting forth the value of such leave to the person's assignmentDistrict. 12-1.6 Upon return from sabbatical leave, a Teacher shall be placed on the salary schedule at the level which he/she would have achieved had he/she remained actively employed in the system during the period of his/her absence.
12-1.7 Any Teacher granted a sabbatical leave of absence must agree in writing to continue working in the system for at least two and (2) years following the sabbatical leave. If the total remission of service is not made by the Teacher, the Teacher shall agree, by signing a promissory note before being granted the leave, to remit to the Board the monetary amount equal to the time not served. Remission of the total amount expended by the Board shall be made at the rate of one-half (2.51/2) percent per year of service, except in the case of death or total disability of the regular fullEmployee.

Upon certification by Human Resources, the form will be forwarded to the appropriate first-level manager who will determine whether the requested leave presents any major difficulties for the ongoing activity of the educational program. 14.10.2 The request for a single or multiple term, (not to exceed one (1) academic year) sabbatical leave as provided for in Section 14.10.7 shall be submitted to the Chief Instructional Officer or designee on or before January 15 Superintendent and the Board upon the completion of the preceding academic yearleave. During the leave period, the Teacher shall furnish periodic progress reports of the sabbatical leave, as requested by the Board and the administration.

14.10.5 One hundred (100) percent of the base her annual salary for a single-semester full year sabbatical or eightyfull salary for one-half (1/2) year sabbatical; however, in no event shall the Teacher’s earnings during the period of such sabbatical exceed his/her earnings for the previous year as adjusted by increment and raise.
12-1.10 Teachers on sabbatical leave will have their benefits continued as long as the insurance carriers are willing to accept such coverage. The District will have the option of bearing any additional cost incurred.

Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical leaves will be limited A. Subject to professional growth activities; i.e., activities which subsequently relate to the person's assignment. Sabbatical Leave. Sabbatical 5.1 The School Committee may grant sabbatical leaves for teachers requesting such leaves. The granting of such leaves shall be discretionary with the School Committee provided only that such discretion shall not be exercised in any arbitrary or discriminatory manner.
a) A full school year with 50% of salary (including the current increment); or
b) One-half school year with 50% of salary (including the current increment)
5.2 No requests for sabbatical will be limited to professional growth activities; i.e.considered by the Committee if

c) The request is made by a teacher who has not completed five (5) consecutive full school years of service in the Barrington School System.
5.3 No requests for sabbaticals shall be permitted sabbatical leaves each academic year. The Governing Board maygranted by the School Committee unless as a condition thereof, at its sole discretion, approve or disapprove sabbatical leaves. If a regular faculty member receives an overall evaluation of “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory,” that faculty member will not be eligible the teacher shall agree to return to employment in the Barrington School System for a period twice as long as the duration of the sabbatical leave unless and until the faculty member’s evaluation has been determined to be satisfactorygranted. In the event that a teacher should fail to return to fulfill the requirement to serve twice the duration of the sabbatical leave has been approved prior leave, the teacher shall reimburse the school system for the payments received during the sabbatical on a pro-rata basis.
