Common use of Salary Increments Clause in Contracts

Salary Increments. ‌ (a) While Schedule "A" provides a minimum and maximum salary, annual increments for regular employees must be earned before they are paid. The decision as to whether the increments are earned shall rest in the discretion of the Employer, either from personal observation or upon the recommendation of the supervisors in charge of the various departments in which the employee has been employed. (b) If any employee feels aggrieved with regard to the payment of annual increments, and if the Union feels the employee concerned has a justifiable complaint and so notifies the Employer, the matter will be dealt with under the grievance procedure. (c) Upon completion of the first twelve (12) months of service and subject to the provisions of Subsections (a) and (b) above, the first salary increment shall be granted. Thereafter, salary increments shall continue to be granted after serving a minimum of twelve (12) months at the previous step, in accordance with Subsections (a) and (b). (d) An auxiliary employee who is the successful applicant for a posted regular vacancy or converted to regular status shall have their previous time worked in the same position credited for the purposes of increments.
