Common use of Salary Rate Upon Promotion Clause in Contracts

Salary Rate Upon Promotion. Upon promotion to a position of a higher classification, the new rate shall be the minimum rate of the range of the position to which promoted, or a rate within the range agreed to by the employee and department head and approved by the City Manager, or his/her designee, or a rate within the range which is ten percent (10%) above the former rate, whichever is higher. No part of this section shall be subject to the provisions of the Grievance- Arbitration Article of this contract.
