Vests. 58.2.1 The City shall furnish protective vests to each officer.
Vests. For all protective vests replaced after [August 7, 2000], if the integrity of the protective qualities of the vest have not been compromised as determined by the using officer, then the officer may retain the original vest for up to five years past the vest’s expiration date. If the integrity of the protective qualities of the vest have been compromised as determined by the using officer, then it will not be reissued. Vests. The Department shall, consistent with its policy, provide the employee with body armor of threat level II or IIIA. Newly-hired employees shall have the option of being provided a voucher in the amount of the Department's cost for the current Department-issued body armor. Exceptions to the requirement that the vest be threat level II or IIIA shall be handled according to Department policy. Vests shall be replaced whenever they are defective, but in no case longer than eight (8) years from their original purchase.
Vests. Bullet proof vests will be replaced once every five years, according to the manufacturer's warranty. There will be an additional expense allowed for these vests, not to exceed twelve hundred dollars ($1,200.00). This charge cannot be used against the existing uniform allowances. Existing employees, upon expiration of their current vests, shall be eligible to purchase their own protective vests, including optional trauma plates, and be eligible to submit for reimbursement to the County of up to one thousand dollars ($1000) with proof of purchase. New employees shall be responsible for purchase of their own protective vests, including optional trauma plates and, upon providing proof of purchase, will be eligible for reimbursement of up to one thousand dollars ($1000). After initial reimbursement, employees with continued five (5) years of service, standard shelf life of Kevlar, shall be eligible for reimbursement upon proof of purchase of new vest and expiration of old one. The purchase price will not exceed one thousand dollars ($1000). If the amount does exceed one thousand dollars ($1000), it is the responsibility of the employee to cover those costs in excess. Vests. The Employer shall pay 100% for a replacement bulletproof vest as selected by the Employer. Carrier vests shall be replaced at the City’s cost in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines (5 years or otherwise noted).

Vests. Class 2 lime green vests or other Class 2 clothing must be worn at all times. Truck drivers will wear vests or other Class 2 clothing at all times including when driving truck. Work Boots or Work Shoes must be worn by all field and shop Subcontractors at all times in work areas. Anti-slip soles are recommended. (No white tennis shoes.)
