School Work Year. 24.1 For contract purposes, the school work year for teachers shall consist of one hundred eighty-four (184) days as scheduled by the Board of Education, including all class days and work sessions at the opening and closing of the year. The school work year for new teachers shall consist of one hundred eighty-five (185) days and shall begin one (1) day prior to the work year of teachers not new to the district. All scheduled work days which may be canceled for emergency reasons shall not count as part of the one hundred eighty-four (184) days. In addition to the one hundred eighty-four (184) Board of Education scheduled days, each teacher will be responsible for scheduling seven (7) hours per year during non- school time. These days will be utilized in a manner, and at a time, which is mutually agreeable to the teacher and the teacher’s immediate supervisor. Such activities as serving on committees; working on individual or group objectives; preparing instructional materials; participating in programs of authorized travel; participating in workshops or seminars; etc. are examples of the manner in which these days may be utilized. The district shall be responsible for scheduling seven (7) hours per year during non-school time for professional development activities determined by the district’s Professional Development Committee. The offerings shall be posted at the start of the school year and shall state a date by which such activity must be completed. To the extent possible, activities shall be offered more than once during the year. 24.2 All certified personnel and those holding a durational shortage area permit, except those whose job description specifically requires additional service beyond the above maximum, shall be paid at the rate of one one hundred eighty-fourth (1/184th) or one hundred eighty-fifth (1/185th) for first year teachers of their regular salary per day for each day of additional work required by the superintendent or Board and not contracted for separately. 24.3 The additional professional development day, commencing with the 2003-2004 work year, shall be scheduled on Election Day.

(e) Four (4) Act 80 parent-teacher conference nights of not more than three (3) hours each. Employees will be afforded release time equal to evening conference time. Additional evening conferences may be scheduled if agreed upon by the year.
24.2 All certified personnel Superintendent and those holding a durational shortage area permit, except those whose job description specifically requires the Association. Compensation for these additional service evening conferences beyond the above maximumfour (4) Act 80 parent-teacher conference nights will be at the Extra Professional Activities Rate (Appendix E). Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, employees of the bargaining unit assigned to the High school will not participate in Spring Conferences but will have full student days instead;
(f) Two (2) days of orientation for new teachers. The Association will be granted 2 hours from one of these days to work with the new teachers;
(g) The Administration may schedule special events/activities outside of the normal workday. Employees who agree to participate shall be paid additional compensation at the rate of one one hundred eighty-fourth Extra Activities Rate (1/184th) or one hundred eighty-fifth (1/185th) for first year teachers of their regular salary per day for each day of additional work required by the superintendent or Board and not contracted for separatelyAppendix E).
24.3 The additional professional development day, commencing with the 2003-2004 work year, shall be scheduled on Election Day.

It shall consist coincide with the Supervisory District of which Unatego Central School is a member except that:
1. The Board shall adopt a calendar of one hundred eighty-four six (184186) days as scheduled by the Board of Education, including all class days and work sessions at the opening and closing of the yeardays. The school work year for new teachers Said calendar shall consist of up to one hundred eighty-five (185) teaching days and shall begin one (1depending on the number of inservice days) day prior plus up to the work year of teachers not new five (5) inservice workdays (including superintendent’s conference days) to the district. 2. Said calendar shall contain six (6) days for emergencies. Any emergency days required to be added, (over and above those originally allocated) which would result in school being in session for less than one hundred eighty (180) days (inclusive of the superintendent conference days), shall be regained by subtracting an equal number of days from remaining scheduled vacation days. In addition Such days shall be established by the District after consultation with the Association. The District may also change scheduled inservice days to the one hundred eighty-four (184) Board of Education scheduled teaching days, each teacher will be responsible if necessary and after consultation with the Association, to ensure that the State minimum number of teaching days is met for scheduling seven the school year.
3. Said calendar shall contain a minimum of two (72) hours per year half-day days during non- school time. These days will be utilized in a manner, Regents weeks for elementary bargaining unit members to use for clerical and at a time, which is mutually agreeable to the teacher and the teacher’s immediate supervisor. Such activities as serving on committees; working on individual or group objectives; preparing instructional materials; participating in programs of authorized travel; participating in workshops or seminars; etc. are examples end of the manner in which these days may be utilizedyear responsibilities.
4.
