EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. 9.1 The work year shall be as follows:
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. 23.01 Standard and Extended School Year and Work Year. The standard work year consists of 196 days. The School Board may adopt a written plan for an extended work year consisting of no more than 211 days at one or more instructional sites. This plan shall include the educational purpose to be achieved by the extension of the work year. LCTA shall be provided with the proposed plan at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to its consideration by the Board, and the District shall consult with LCTA prior to Board action regarding such plan. Employees at a school where such extended work year is to be implemented shall be provided with written notice that the District plans to implement an extended work year at their school no later than March 1 of the school year preceding the implementation of such extended work year. Employees at such school shall have input into their school’s plan through the procedures provided in Article 25 (School Improvement and Accountability and Shared Decision-Making) or through other appropriate teacher group(s) at the school (school improvement team, leadership team, etc.) Employees’ pay shall be increased proportionally consistent with the extended work year (see Section 21.03). A permanent employee assigned to a school that is to have an extended work year who desires to transfer to a school on a standard work year shall be provided with such an opportunity. Six (6) of the days in the standard or extended work year shall be designated as paid holidays. Appropriate time to complete necessary tasks during preschool and post school planning days shall be provided for the employee at the work station.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. Section 1. Contracts with certified personnel shall be in writing and shall state the length of time the contract is in force, the total compensation for the contract period, together with the schedule of periodic payments. Such contract shall be approved by the Board, signed by the Employee, president and secretary of the Board and filed with the secretary. Teachers' contracts will extend over a period of one hundred ninety (190) days. Such days may be used for teaching, for parent- teacher conferences, workshops, institutes, conventions, etc., as the Board may determine, but one
(1) of such days shall be a non-mandatory teacher preparation day. No parent-teacher conference and/or report cards will be required until completion of the equivalent of one-half (1/2) work day near the end of the nine-week reporting period.
Section 2. The Board shall promptly notify the Association and each Employee as to the vacation periods during the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 school years as soon as the school calendar has been set for that year.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. The employee work year shall consist of one hundred eighty (180) work days and Seven (7) additional enrichment days will be offered during the school year. Employees will be paid according to the salary schedule in Appendix D.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. The employee work year during the term of this Agreement shall be one hundred eighty four (184) days for the duration of this agreement. New employees shall be provided additional work days in accordance with Section 5.09 of this Agreement.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. The work year covered by this Agreement shall consist of the number of days identified in RCS 28A.150.220(3) for continuing employees. New employees to the District will be granted one (1) additional day to RCW 28A.150.220(3). The District will automatically adjust the work-year, salaries, and insurance benefits allocation to conform to State appropriations during each year of this contract.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. 12:1 The in-school work year for employees as employed on a ten (10) month basis will be one hundred eighty-eight (188) days or as prescribed by State law, whichever is greater; on an eleven (11) month basis two hundred four (204) days or as prescribed by State Law, whichever is greater; on a twelve (12) month basis two hundred twenty-two (222) days or as prescribed by State Law, whichever is greater.
12:2 The above stated maximum number of work days for each category may be extended two (2) additional days for new employees for the purpose of orientation and in-service education. The District may require new employees to work an additional two (2) days (four (4) total) for orientation and in-service. Each of the additional two (2) days referred to above shall be paid at Seventy-Five ($75) per day.
12:3 Positions in special schools requiring work days in excess of the ten (10) month school year [one hundred eighty-eight (188) teacher days] will be filled on a volunteer basis. In the event two or more volunteers or applicants have similar qualifications, the most senior employee will be given the position. Should these positions not be filled within the school, they will be open to all qualified employees within the District. When employees staff a full-time or year round program that is an eleven-month or twelve month program the employee shall be compensated at the employee's daily rate of pay for work beyond the State mandated year. It is understood that this provision does not apply to employees who work during the time when students are not in session at a rate of pay established by the Board (for example, psychologist, librarian, guidance counselor, summer school or school comparable to summer school, etc.)
12:3.1 In the event there are not sufficient qualified applicants for such positions, qualified special school employees may be assigned to said positions on a rotating basis, with the employee having the least amount of continuous service in the District and the least number of rotational involuntary special school assignments being assigned first with notification of such involuntary assignment to be made by May 1.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. A. In-School Work Year
1. Regular Contract: The in-school work year for employees, other than new personnel who may be required to attend an additional three (3) days of orientation, shall not exceed one hundred ninety-two (192) days and a maximum of one evening orientation session not to exceed two (2) hours for parents or students as determined by the Superintendent.
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. 1. The Board shall have the absolute right to establish the school calendar. Should the Association desire to make recommendations concerning said calendar, said recommendations shall be delivered to the Superintendent no later than February 1 of each year of the Agreement's duration.
2. The work year for twelve-month employees shall commence on July 1 and conclude on June 30. The work year for ten-month employees shall commence on September 1 and conclude on June 30.
3. Twelve-month employees shall receive the following vacation time:
a. Employment for less than one year shall carry an entitlement of one working day for each month employed and the restriction that no vacation may be taken unless employment has been for a minimum of two (2) months.
b. Employment for one year, but less than eight (8) years, ten (10) working days.
c. Employment for eight (8) years or more, fifteen (15) working days.
d. The Board reserves the right to specify the conditions under which vacation may be taken. The Board, in its sole discretion has the right to implement a common ten (10) day vacation period for all employees in the unit. Those employees entitled to more than ten (10) days vacation in one year would receive, should the Board implement a common vacation, that portion of his vacation in excess of ten (10) days in the manner herein provided. Employees eligible for vacation must apply for same to the Superintendent at least three (3) months in advance of the desired start date. Special consideration shall be given to emergencies. All applications are subject to final approval by the Superintendent. Vacations must be taken with two (2) years of the time earned. In no event shall an employee be permitted to carry forward to a subsequent year more than ten (10) vacation days. Accumulated vacation days in excess of ten, which are not used in any particular year, will be considered abandoned. No payment shall be made for abandoned vacation time. An employee who anticipates termination of their services may take accrued vacation prior to the termination date with proper approval as set forth above. Accrued vacation may be paid to the estate of a deceased employee or to a retiring employee.
4. If school is closed early due to inclement weather or snow accumulation, custodial staff shall only be required to work a six hour day. If custodians agree to work longer than six hours on such days, they shall be given the option of receiving time and a half or compensatory time on ...
EMPLOYEE WORK YEAR. 9:1 The work year for employees who are employed on a ten (10) month, an eleven (11) month, or a twelve (12) month basis will be as prescribed by state law. This may be defined as days or equivalent hours. The parties agree to meet no later than May in each year to discuss snow hour plans.
9:1.1 Three (3) days prior to the beginning of the school year will be established to provide professional development and classroom set up for teachers. Each of these days will count towards the number of required work days for teachers. Within the first two (2) days, schools must allow for 7 hours of classroom preparation. The amount of time allocated for classroom preparation may be split into a minimum of 3.5 hour consecutive increments. The third day is considered a flex day that allows for additional classroom preparation time that may be used at the teacher’s discretion. This may occur either in the building or out of the building without an expectation for documentation.
9:2 The above-stated maximum number of workdays for each category may be extended two (2) additional days for new employees for the purpose of orientation and staff development.
9:3 State-funded positions in special school programs requiring workdays in excess of the ten-month work year shall be filled on a voluntary basis. If these positions are not filled from current program staff, the positions shall be open to all qualified persons, with district employees being given preference. In choosing among qualified personnel, seniority will be a factor. If there are not sufficient qualified applicants, qualified special school employees may be assigned to said positions. Assignments will be on a rotating basis. Employees having the least amount of continuous service in the District and the least number of rotational and voluntary special school assignments will be assigned first. Notification of these involuntary assignments will be made on or before June 1.
9:3.1 Employees hired in the special school programs will be informed of the possibility of assignment during the extended school year as required by the IEP process.
9:3.2 Interest-Based Decision making process will be used to establish the staff assignments during the extended year.
