Length of Work Year. 1. The length of the work year for custodians, accountants, (excluding school lunch accountant), personnel specialist, maintenance, maintenance helpers, mechanics, purchasing coordinator, county receptionist, warehouse and property records coordinator shall be twelve months.
2. The length of the work year for attendance assistant and bus drivers shall be 188 days.
3. The length of the work year for school food service shall be 194 days.
Length of Work Year. The normal work year shall begin on July 1 and end twelve (12) months later on June 30.
Length of Work Year. 4.1 The work year for the bargaining unit, unless otherwise noted in the Agreement, shall consist of one hundred eighty-seven (187) work days. Newly employed unit members are required by the Superintendent or designee to attend the new certificated employee orientation day. The new certificated employee orientation day shall be paid at the curricular rate described in Appendix B.
4.2 Unit members other than those specified in Section 4.1 above who are required by the Superintendent or designee to work more than one hundred eighty-seven (187) workdays in any school year shall be compensated at their regular per diem rate of pay. This section does not include compensation for unit members engaged in voluntary work beyond the 187-day work year.
4.3 The work year for comprehensive high school counselors shall consist of 195 days and 210 days for the department head (Head Counselor). The work year for counselors new to the District shall be 196 days. The beginning and ending dates for the work year will be designated by the school principal after consultation with the counselors at the site. These additional days will be compensated at the unit member’s per diem daily rate of pay.
4.3.1 Any special events, with prior approval from site management, beyond the contractual work day which counselors are expected to attend, above and beyond those worked by all certificated staff, shall be compensated at the curriculum rate of pay.
4.4 Resource teachers assigned to the district office shall work an extended work year of 205 days. The Welfare and Attendance Advisor shall work an extended work year of 225 days. These additional days will be compensated at the unit member’s per diem daily rate of pay.
4.5 School Psychologists and Special Education Program Specialists shall work an extended work year of 197 days. Scheduling of these days will be made in agreement between the unit member and the direct supervisor.
Length of Work Year. 6.1 The length of the work year for teachers on a ten (10) month contract shall be one hundred ninety-six (196) days. Teachers employed on ten (10) plus one (1) contracts shall work two hundred sixteen (216) days. Teachers on ten (10) plus two (2) contracts shall work two hundred thirty-six (236) days. Teachers employed on a twelve (12) month contract shall work the same number of days as non-teacher, twelve (12) month annual contract personnel.
6.2 During the regular school year, there shall be six (6) paid holidays for teachers.
6.3 There shall be a committee responsible for recommending a tentative school calendar. Two (2) members of this committee will be appointed by the WCEA president and two (2) members by the Superintendent. The Board shall also appoint one (1) of its members to serve on the committee. Before April 1 of each year, this committee shall meet and confer to recommend a tentative school calendar to the Superintendent and Board.
6.4 In the event of emergency, the Superintendent has the authority to close any school or office. The administration will give public notice of such closing through the public media.
Length of Work Year. 5.6.1 The work year for all twelve-month (12) classified personnel within the bargaining unit shall commence on July 1 and conclude on June 30 of each school year.
5.6.2 The work year for all eleven-month (11) classified personnel within the bargaining unit shall commence on August 1 and conclude on June 30 of each school year.
5.6.3 The work year for all ten and one-half month (10 ½) classified personnel within the bargaining unit shall commence three weeks prior to the opening of school and shall conclude two weeks after closing of school for each school year.
5.6.4 The work year for all ten-month (10) classified personnel within the bargaining unit shall commence two weeks prior to the opening of school and shall conclude one week after closing of school for each school year.
5.6.5 The work year for Food Services and Paraeducator classified personnel shall be as follows:
Length of Work Year. The length of an assigned employee's contract year will be one hundred eighty-four (184) days in total. SECTION C – SECONDARY SCHEDULE PREPARATION
1. Secondary employees will not be assigned more than three (3) different preparations nor more than two (2) non-related subject fields except by mutual consent of the teacher and administrator. This would be applicable to Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, and P.E. Employees teaching integrated courses such as World Cultures, American Studies, and Humanities will not be assigned preparations outside the subject fields of the integrated course, except by mutual consent of the teacher and administrator. The number of preparation periods counted per integrated course or block class will reflect the same number of classes for which the students are receiving credit (i.e., Language Arts/Social Studies block class equals two preps: English and History).
2. Employees may only be assigned out of their endorsed areas as provided by WAC 000-00-000, “Exceptions to Classroom Teacher Assignment Policy”.
3. No secondary employee will be required to teach more than five (5) class periods per day.
Length of Work Year. 1. a. Teachers employed on a ten (10) month contract shall be required to work a maximum of 186 days between September 1 and June 30 of the appropriate school year.
Length of Work Year. The base work year for a bargaining unit member shall not exceed a total of one hundred eighty-four (184) days divided as follows:
A. One hundred eighty (180) days for instruction, which may include two (2) days in which classes are dismissed for the purpose of individualized parent/teacher conferences;
B. Two (2) days for in-service meetings;
C. One (1) orientation day on the week day immediately preceding the first (1st) day of instruction; and
D. One (1) work day, without classes, immediately following the last day of instruction.
Length of Work Year. Effective July 1, 2010, the length of the work year shall be as follows:
Length of Work Year. For the purpose of this article, “same wage classification” means those job classifications with the same maximum job rate, exclusive of shift premium and overtime.
