Selective reduction of cPP Sample Clauses

Selective reduction of cPP. Vasodilators are the most widely used treatment for hypertension and heart failure. In hypertension they have been shown to improve cardiovascular outcome due to their blood pressure lowering effects, although specific class effects beyond blood pressure lowering could also be implicated.102 Their common feature is their effect to reduce peripheral resistance103-107, once thought to be the sole haemodynamic culprit leading to hypertension. For the last two decades it has been increasingly recognised that brachial DBP control is often achievable but not SBP and PP, even under clinical trial conditions.3, 8, 108 Often multiple drugs are required to optimise SBP control4, 109 and in an attempt to optimise SBP, further resistance arteriolar vasodilatation precipitates a greater than desired fall in DBP thus potentially compromising perfusion pressure to vital organs. This is especially true in the context of ISH, the commonest type of hypertension in middle aged and elderly patients.42 Beside reduction in peripheral resistance, therefore, the rationale for design of new vasodilators specifically targeting PP reduction should be the ability to manipulate arterial stiffness and/or pressure wave reflection within the cardiovascular system. Aortic stiffness Left ventricular contraction and relaxation Vascular tone in muscular conduit arteries Vascular tone in resistance arterioles Figure 4: Schematic diagram showing the potential haemodynamic targets for optimisation of ventricular vascular coupling and pulse pressure reduction. Figure 4 shows the various components within the cardiovascular system that could potentially influence cPP. These include aortic stiffness, muscular arterial tone influencing pressure wave reflection and ventricular contraction and relaxation. Aortic Stiffness Arterial stiffening is an ageing process driven by a complex interaction between systemic factors and local haemodynamic forces that activate mechanical and cellular changes within the arterial wall.18, 110, 111 Large elastic arteries are arbitrary defined as arteries with internal diameter above 2mm and muscular large arteries with internal diameter between 150μm – 2mm.22 The structural integrity of the arterial wall, which is a balance of elasticity and tensile strength is determined by the proportion of elastin to collagen in the extracellular matrix and the number of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC).110, 111 From the aortic root down to the distal 5cm of thoracic aorta, elast...

  • Reduction in Force Procedure Should a situation arise which could result in a layoff of Faculty Members, the District shall provide the Federation with a written statement of the basis for the decision with supporting data and projected reductions that may be needed. Upon the request of either party, the District and the Federation shall meet promptly to discuss the impact of such action and any possible alternative courses of action. In the case of a reduction in force, the District shall notify the Federation in writing of the names of all Faculty Members to be laid off. This notice shall be given simultaneously with notification to the affected Faculty Members. This procedure shall also include all notifications of re-employment following a layoff.

  • Termination of Participation If the Administrator determines in good faith that the Executive no longer qualifies as a member of a select group of management or highly compensated employees, as determined in accordance with ERISA, the Administrator shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to cease further benefit accruals hereunder.

  • Cessation of Contributions The obligation of the employer to contribute to the Fund in respect of an employee shall cease on the last day of such employee's employment with the employer.

  • TERMINATION OF THE MOU Either Party may terminate this MOU through written notice to the other party given not later than the last calendar day in December and to be effective for the ensuing academic fall semester. In the event of termination, the School District, School and College will prepare an agreeable plan of dissolution in accordance with all Applicable Laws to be submitted and approved by the authorized representatives from both Parties as listed herein.

  • Reduction of Compensation If the Firm fails to meet the submission date by less than thirty days for the draft report and/or working papers submitted to the Office of the State Auditor for review and approval or by less than thirty days from the completion date for the final reports and/or corrections to the working papers prescribed herein, the District may, with the consent of the Office of the State Auditor, reduce the agreed compensation by an amount not to exceed ten percent of the total contract price for the applicable fiscal year. If reports and/or corrections to the working papers are overdue by 30 days or more, the District may reduce, with the consent of the Office of the State Auditor, the agreed compensation by an amount not to exceed twenty percent of the total contract price for the Rev. 10/20 applicable fiscal year.

  • Voluntary Demotion or Voluntary Reduction in Hours An employee has a right to his regularly assigned time, and shall not have it involuntarily reduced. Employees who take voluntary demotions or voluntary reductions in assigned time in lieu of layoff shall be, at the employee’s option, returned to a position in their former class or to present former positions with increased assigned time as vacancies become available, for a period of five (5) years and three (3) months, except that they shall be ranked in accordance with their seniority on any valid reemployment list.

  • DETERMINATION OF HUB PARTICIPATION A firm must be an eligible HUB and perform a professional or technical function relating to the project. Proof of payment, such as copies of canceled checks, properly identifying the Department’s contract number or project number may be required to substantiate the payment, as deemed necessary by the Department. A HUB subprovider, with prior written approval from the Department, may subcontract 70% of a contract as long as the DocuSign Envelope ID: 1FDB1C48-24B1-4C40-8A33-17263E465FE2 HUB subprovider performs a commercially useful function. All subcontracts shall include the provisions required in the subcontract and shall be approved as to form, in writing, by the Department prior to work being performed under the subcontract. A HUB performs a commercially useful function when it is responsible for a distinct element of the work of a contract; and actually manages, supervises, and controls the materials, equipment, employees, and all other business obligations attendant to the satisfactory completion of contracted work. If the subcontractor uses an employee leasing firm for the purpose of providing salary and benefit administration, the employees must in all other respects be supervised and perform on the job as if they were employees of the subcontractor.

  • WORKFORCE REDUCTION In the event that funding reductions or shortfalls in funding occur in a department or are expected, which may result in layoffs, the department will notify the union and take the following actions:

  • Definition of Total Disability Total disability means that the employee is unable, because of sickness or accident, to perform the duties of their regular occupation. This definition applies for the first twenty-four (24) months of payments. After this time, the inability to perform an occupation for which the employee is reasonably fitted by training, education or experience will constitute total disability. It is not required that an employee be confined to home, but they must be under the regular care of a physician.

  • Discontinuation of Service If there are unavoidable reasons (including but not limited to technical reasons), SORACOM may discontinue provision of the SORACOM Air Global Service in whole or part.
