Common use of Seniority for New Employees Clause in Contracts

Seniority for New Employees. Newly hired employees shall be considered to be on probation for a period of six (6) months from their last date of hire. During the probationary period employees shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of this agreement except with respect to discharge. It is understood that the Employer may discharge a probationary employee for any reason satisfactory to the Employer provided that it is done in good faith and in a non-arbitrary manner. The employment of such employees may be terminated at any time during this period of six (6) months. After completion of the probationary period seniority shall be effective from the original last date of employment.
