Common use of Sick/Disability Leave Clause in Contracts

Sick/Disability Leave. An employee who is unable to work regularly because of a long-term major personal illness or disability which would qualify under the Family Medical Leave Act and who has exhausted all sick leave available shall be deemed on leave of absence without pay for the duration of such illness or disability, but no longer than twelve months (12). A request for an extension of the leave may be made to the Superintendent at least one month prior to the end of the approved leave. Medical proof of illness or disability is required.
