Common use of Sick Leave Donation Program Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Donation Program. 12.1 Faculty may donate sick leave to faculty members or to members of the Leadership Team who, due to a serious health condition, have exhausted all accumulated sick leave. 12.2 Donors may not donate more than three days of sick leave in any academic year. A donor shall retain a minimum of forty (40) days of accumulated sick leave after his/her donation. No employee may receive more than thirty (30) days of donated sick leave during a twelve-month period. 12.3 A “serious health condition” is defined as an illness, injury, impairment, or other physical or mental condition involved in patient care in a hospital, hospice, or residential health care facility, or continued treatment or continuing supervision by a healthcare provider as defined in 29 USC 825.114(a) and a certified by the employee’s physician or other qualified practitioner. 12.4 The Vice-Chancellor of Human Resources will verify the certification of eligibility. If the certification from the employee’s physician is insufficient, a certification by a physician of the District’s choosing may be required, at District’s expense. The District may require additional medical opinions.
