Sick Leave Earned During Year of Separation. 18.6.1 The amount of employee's earned sick leave for the benefit year in which he is separated shall be calculated on the basis of one and one-quarter (1¼) days for each completed month of service in that benefit year. For periods of less than one (1) full calendar month the amount earned shall be calculated using the following formula: regular hours worked x .0577 = earned hours of sick leave credit.   • Sick Leave During Leave of Absence (F/T) When an Employee is given leave of absence without pay for any reason, or is laid off on account of lack of work, he/she shall not continue to accumulate sick leave and shall not be entitled to receive pay for sickness for the period of such absence, but shall retain his/her cumulative credit, if any, existing at the time of such leave or lay-off.

  • Leave Year The leave year begins with the first full payroll period of a calendar year and ends with the payroll period in which December 31st falls.

  • Sick Leave During Vacation Where an employee qualifies for sick leave due to illness or injury during the period of vacation time, sick leave shall displace vacation leave. An illness or injury occurring while the employee is on scheduled vacation time shall not be accepted as a claim for sick leave benefits unless recuperation involves hospitalization or confinement to bed by order of a medical practitioner. Written medical verification of such illness or injury and hospitalization or confinement must be provided to the Employer in order for the employee to be eligible for sick leave benefits.

  • Leave Pay A. Fifteen (15) days of sick leave shall be credited to a school year employee after reporting for their first day of work. All unused sick leave and personal leave days from the current year will be added to the bank of sick days for the following year. All unused sick leave days in excess of ninety (90) days shall be returned to the employee at the end of the current school year on the basis of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per day.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Sick Leave Payment Any employee, at his/her option may choose to receive payment for sick leave earned during the year which is unused at the end of the year. Any such payment must be for the total number of unused sick leave hours earned during the year, must be based on the hourly rate of pay of the employee multiplied by 50 percent, and all hours for which payment is received must be deducted from the employee’s accumulated leave balance. Sick leave used during a current year will be charged against the most recently earned sick leave. Hourly rate of pay is the hourly rate at the end of the contract year.

  • Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Where it can be established by the employee through a doctor's certificate that an illness or accident occurred, or where an employee qualifies for bereavement or any other approved leave during his/her period of vacation, there shall be no deduction from vacation credits for such absence. The period of vacation so displaced shall either be added to the vacation or reinstated for use at a later date, at the employee's option, as mutually agreed.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

  • Sick Leave Payout No cash payment for unused sick leave will be paid to any employee leaving the service of the Employer.

  • Sick Leave Bonus For every six (6) months of perfect sick leave attendance after July 1, 1987, the employee will receive eight (8) hours of bonus time. This bonus time will be prorated for part-time employees. Such bonus time can be used for any leave purpose covered by this Agreement. Such bonus time shall be counted as vacation leave credits for purposes of determining eligibility for carry- over and cash payments.
