Small Necessities Leave Act. Section 1. Employees who are eligible for twenty-four (24) hours of unpaid leave pursuant to the Small Necessities Leave Act (Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 52D) must substitute any accrued paid personal leave for any of the leave provided under the Act. Section 2. To be entitled to leave, employees must provide notice to the Superintendent as follows: (a) If the need for leave is foreseeable, the employee must request the leave not later than seven (7) days in advance; (b) If the need is not foreseeable, the employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable under the particular circumstances of the individual case; (c) Employees must complete the attached certificate form.
