Health Leave. Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.
Health Leave. Health leave without pay will be granted to an employee for absences due to illness or injury in excess of accumulated sick leave upon the employee's written request which must be accompanied by a supporting statement from the employee's physician. The health leave shall continue for the remainder of the school or contract year or until the employee is able to return to work if that occurs prior to the end of the current school or contract year. Return to duty request following health leave shall be filed with the Human Resources Executive Director at least fifteen (15) calendar days in advance of his/her intent to return to active employment. An employee failing to timely submit such a request will be deemed to have terminated his/her employment with the District at the expiration of his/her health leave. An employee returning to duty after a health leave must present a written statement from his/her physician certifying that he/she is ready to return to work. The District may also require such an employee to submit to an examination by a physician of the District's choice. The final decision regarding return to duty shall be made by the Superintendent after communication with the immediate supervisor and the physician(s) involved.
Health Leave. In order to provide job protection for employees who are not covered by FMLA, after one (1) year of continuous employment with an FTE, one (1) durational leave of absence per rolling calendar year will be granted to employees who are not eligible for FMLA leave for a personal illness or injury, or disability because of pregnancy or childbirth without loss of accrued benefits. An employee who exhausts all of their FMLA leave is not eligible for a health leave.
Health Leave. After one (1) year of continuous employment, a leave of absence may be granted for health reasons upon the recommendation of a physician for a period of up to six (6) months, without loss of accrued benefits accrued to the date such leave commences. “Health reasons” shall mean:

If the nurse’s absence from work for health reasons does not exceed twelve (12) weeks, the nurse shall return to work on the same unit, shift and former full-time or part-time status. Thereafter for the duration of the six (6) month leave, upon requesting return to work, the nurse shall be offered the first available opening for which the nurse is qualified. The nurse may use previously accrued sick leave and annual leave to the extent accrued during this health leave of absence. Prior to the nurse returning from a health leave of absence, the Employer may require a statement from a licensed medical practitioner attesting to the nurse’s capability to perform the work required of the position.
Health Leave. A leave of absence without pay by reason of unsatisfactory personal health for a period not to exceed one year may be granted by the Board of Education upon presentation of evidence of need and upon exhaustion of the building technology employee’s sick leave. Prior to returning to full employment, satisfactory completion of a physical examination shall be required of a building technology employee returning from health leave at the employee’s expense.
Health Leave. A health leave may be granted to a permanent unit member for a definite period of time upon submission of a physician's statement of incapacity to perform the duties and responsibilities of a unit member. A health leave may be granted either following exhaustion of paid sick leave (see Section 10.2.8.) or independently of a prior paid sick leave. A health leave may be granted for the balance of an academic school year and may be extended by application upon submission of a physician's statement of incapacity on a year-to-year basis for a total period not exceeding five (5) additional academic school years.
Health Leave. An employee who has used up all current and accumulated days of sick leave allowance, and who has used up all leave available pursuant to the Family Medical Leave Act, who presents a request supported by a doctor’s statement that he/she is unable to return to work for medical reasons, may be placed by administrative action on extended health leave as required up to the remainder of a current semester. By approval of the Board, the health leave may be extended for up to one (1) year upon written request of the employee and submission of a doctor’s statement that the employee continues to be unable to resume normal duties. The doctor’s statement shall include an estimate of the probable necessary length of the leave, based on the doctor’s best professional judgment. A person on health leave granted by the Board, may request reinstatement no less than thirty (30) days before the beginning of a semester when a return to work is anticipated. Such notification shall be accompanied by a certification by a doctor that the person’s health should permit a return to full duty. The employee shall be allowed to return to duty after thirty (30) days’ notice or at the end of a semester, whichever is sooner, and upon receipt of a statement from his/her physician certifying his/her ability to resume normal duties. Return from an extended leave shall be to an equivalent position.
Health Leave. 1. The District may grant, upon request, a Unit Member an unpaid leave of one (1) trimester or more for health reasons.
2. A statement by the Unit Member’s physician to the effect that the Unit Member is entitled to such leave shall be furnished at the District’s request.
3. The Unit Member shall notify the District of his/her intended return date at least four (4) weeks in advance.
Health Leave. A teacher may make application for unpaid Health Leave. Such leave is without pay and is normally granted for one (1) year or less. Health Leave may be extended beyond one (1) year at the discretion of the Superintendent.
