Common use of Special Needs Driver Training Clause in Contracts

Special Needs Driver Training. Prior to the beginning of each school year, Special Needs Drivers shall participate in a four (4) hour in-service training covering aspects of skills required for driving special needs students. No employee shall drive a special education route or trip, on a regular or relief /substitute basis, without specific special education training. Any driver bidding upon and receiving a special education route will be trained by KWRL at the co-op's expense before driving a special education route. Summer school drivers shall be required to complete the training if they have not done so during the school year. The Co-op will also train, at its own expense, the two most senior drivers who volunteer at in-service to be relief drivers for special education routes and trips. Other drivers may participate in training for special education routes at their own expense, on their own time, and then shall be eligible for special education trips. The regularly assigned special education drivers shall have the right of first refusal for special education trips.
