STEWARDS AND COMMITTEES. The Union may choose twenty-five (25) stewards who must have seniority status to assist in processing grievances as outlined under the grievance procedure. This number may be adjusted by mutual agreement between the Company and the Union. There shall be three (3) Union Committees com- posed of not more than five (5) members each, who must have seniority status. [a] The functions of the three (3) Committees shall be as follows: to act as the grievance committee referred to in the grievance procedure; to meet with representatives of the Company at times once a month to discuss matters of mutual interest to the Union and the Company; to represent the Union during contract negotiations with the Company. At any meetings with the Company, the Committees may be accompanied by a full-time representative of the Union. The Company shall be notified in writing by the proper officials of the Union the names of the stewards and the committee members, and of any changes in same, before the Company will recognize them. It is agreed that during working hours the discussions of grievances between stewards and employ- ees will as far as is practical, be kept to a minimum. The Company will also be notified of any change to the aforementioned list at the time of the change. The Company will only the individuals on this list as far as Union Officials. Section It is practicalagreed that the Union President will be assigned to the day shift and will be provided reasonable time to conduct Union affairs. Should the assignment of Union President to the day shift result in other employees being denied full shift rotation, then the Union President will be kept assigned to a minimumday worker job, at the Union Presi- dent’s pay, or as provided for in Article XIV, Section The Union President will be returned to the former .
