UNION COMMITTEE STEWARDS. (a) It is agreed that the Union will elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of two full-time employees and one part-time employee. All members of the Committee shall be employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period. The Employer will recognize a Union Administrative Committee which will consist of a Chief Xxxxxxx and two (2) Stewards at the Nursing Home all selected from the members of the bargaining units, who will deal with matters applicable to both bargaining units. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the impact of the changes on the staffing of the facility, and provide the Union with an opportunity to make representation in that regard. The parties shall meet as necessary to discuss other changes or workload issues. The parties may invite additional participants to attend the meeting to support constructive review and discussion. The Union acknowledges that the members of the Union Administrative Committee must continue to perform their regular duties, and that so far as possible all activities of the Committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the members thereof. In the event that Union activity must take place during working hours, committee members or stewards are required to obtain permission from the supervisor before leaving the work area, such permission will not be unreasonably withheld. When such union business has been completed the employee will advise the supervisor. The members of the negotiating committee will suffer no loss in pay for the actual hours spent during their regular scheduled working hours attending negotiation meetings with the Employer for successor agreements up to but not including con- ciliation proceedings or subsequent proceedings...

UNION COMMITTEE STEWARDS. 7.01 No individual employee or group of employees shall undertake to represent the Union at meetings with the Employer without proper authorization of the Union. In order that this may be carried out, the Union will supply the Employer with the names of its Stewards. Similarly, the Employer will supply the Union with a list of its supervisory or other personnel with whom the Union may be required to transact business.

The Employer will recognize a Union Administrative Committee which shall consist of a Chief Xxxxxxx and three (3) stewards at each nursing home all selected from the members of the bargaining unit, not more than two (2) of which committee members shall meet with the Employer at any one (1) time. The Employer shall be advised of the names of members of this committee and shall be notified of any changes from time to time. All members of the committee shall be full-time employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period. The Union acknowledges that the members of the Union Administrative Committee must continue to perform their regular duties, and that so far as possible all activities of the committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the members thereof, unless otherwise mutually arranged.
UNION COMMITTEE STEWARDS. 19.1 LUSI acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select Committees and Stewards in accordance with the selections of this Article. The Union shall advise the Management of the personnel serving on these Committees and also the names of the Stewards. LUSI will recognize a Negotiating Committee comprised of five (5) union representatives as follows: 1 – CUPE National Representative 1 – Local CUPE Executive Representative (President/Vice-President) 1 – Representative each from Electric, Water and Office for a 2-day period. If negotiations continue beyond the second day, the Union will incur the cost of the 4th local representative, or choose to have one less committee member.

It is understood that the Employer shall not be required to meet with more than one xxxxxxx in the settling of grievances at a time. A member of the grievance committee may, where a grievance must reasonably be dealt with during working hours, assist an employee in presenting a grievance without loss of pay, provided the committee member has obtained her consent, (which shall not be unreasonably withheld), to leave her work station, deals with the grievance promptly and reports to her supervisor upon her return. Members of the grievance committee are not covered under this article until named in writing by the Union to the Employer. Meetings between the grievance committee and the Employer shall take place at times mutually agreed to. A Labour Management committee consisting of the contractually recognized shop stewards and management representatives shall meet least once every three months or more frequently as deemed necessary by the committee to discuss workplace issues. Suitable subjects for discussion will include orientation and aggressive residents. The business agent may attend any meeting.

A request for such meeting will be made in writing at least one week prior to the date proposed and accompanied by an agenda of matters proposed to be discussed, which shall not include matters that are properly the subject of a grievance or matters that are properly the subject of negotiations for the amendment or renewal of this agreement. A representative attending such meeting shall be paid for wages lost from regularly scheduled hours. A Union staff member may attend as representative of the Union. Meetings will be held quarterly unless otherwise agreed. It is understood that where full and part-time agreements are separate, there shall be one (1) committee only. Suitable subjects for discussion will include orientation, aggressive residents and workload issues.
