Substitute for Certificated Staff. 44 In emergencies, when an employee is asked by a building administrator to substitute for a certificated 45 staff member for one class period or for one hour or more, the employee will receive an additional 46 10% wage differential above the employee’s regular rate of pay. 47
1 An emergency is understood to mean a sudden condition or state of affairs calling for immediate 2 action or when arrangements for a regular substitute cannot be made, either because of the time 3 factor or the unavailability of a qualified substitute. 4 5 The compensation will commence from the time the employee begins the class/period coverage. 6 7 In the situation when more than one Paraeducator or Interpreter/Tutor is assigned to the class/period, 8 the building administrator or designee must designate one employee as the primary substitute who 9 shall receive the PEA substitute rate of pay. 10

In the situation when more than one Paraeducator or Interpreter/Tutor is assigned to the class/period, the building administrator or designee must designate one employee as the primary substitute.
