Tenure Definition. Tenure is hereby defined as the continued contractual appointment to a full-time non- grant funded faculty position of employment at Sauk Valley Community College. Tenure, as defined in this Agreement, applies to all full-time non-grant funded faculty members who are eligible for membership in the bargaining unit. Tenure is not related to a specific position; however, any faculty member having the status of tenure whose position is changed must be classified and paid for the new position at not less than the highest level of classification commensurate with his/her academic credentials and experience.
Tenure Definition. A tenured Professional Member is a Professional Member who has completed a two (2) year probationary period, whether those years of service were as a Regular Member, Associate Member, or in any other classification or position. An Associate Member with two (2) or more years of service who is hired as a Regular Member shall not be required to serve a probation period as a Regular Member. An Associate Member with one (1) year of service who is hired as a Regular Member shall only be required to serve a one (1) year probation period as a Regular Member. A probationary member may be required to re-audition at the end of each year of his or her probationary period. Nothing in this agreement shall restrict a probationary member from electing to postpone his or her second re-audition by one (1) year, thus extending his or her probationary period. No tenured Professional Member may be placed on vocal leave or denied re- engagement except in accordance with Sections 9.2 through 9.6 below.
