UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is agreed that the Union may elect or otherwise select a Negotiating Committee consisting of two (2) employees one of which may be the Chief Xxxxxxx. (e) Where the parties participate in group bargaining, the Employer agrees to provide alternative days off in the case where an employee is bargaining on a day off. In the case of a part time employee such alternative days will be capped at two per calendar week. These bargaining days will be treated as days worked for which the employee will receive pay for the hours she would have regularly worked.

UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. 7.01 The Corporation will recognize a Grievance Committee (ahereinafter referred to as the "Committee") It is agreed that the Union may elect or otherwise select a Negotiating Committee consisting of two not more than five (25) stewards preferably from different departments of the Complex. Such stewards shall be elected by the employees one of which St. Joseph's Heritage, and each xxxxxxx shall be an employee of the Corporation who has completed three months of continuous service and has acquired seniority. One of the stewards shall be elected by the said employees as the Chief Xxxxxxx, who may be the Chief Xxxxxxx.
(b) All members principal spokesman for the Union Grievance Committee composed of the Committee shall be regular employees five stewards. The Chief Xxxxxxx and one other xxxxxxx may constitute a quorum for the Grievance Committee. It is the role of the Employer who have completed their probationary period.
(c) The Employer will pay wages lost by two (2) members of the Bargaining Committee for time spent in negotiations of stewards to deal with Union business as provided under this Agreement during hours which they would normally have been scheduled to work. This shall also apply to negotiations for the renewal of this Agreement including Conciliation but excluding ArbitrationCollective Agreement.
7.02 The Employer Corporation undertakes to deal with the said Grievance Committee with respect to any matter which properly arises during the term of this Agreement, e.g. settlement of complaints and grievances.

UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is mutually agreed that where negotiations are conducted on a joint basis between any or all of the Nursing Homes in the Extendicare chain in the Province of Ontario, the Union may will elect or otherwise select a Negotiating Committee negotiating committee consisting of one (1) representative from each Nursing Home for every two hundred and fifty (250) employees.
(b) If negotiations are carried on individually for any or all of the Nursing Homes in the Extendicare chain in the Province of Ontario, it is agreed that the Union will elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of up to two (2) employees from the full-time bargaining unit, and two (2) employees from the part-time bargaining unit, one (1) of which may shall be the Chief XxxxxxxUnion Chairperson.

(cd) The Employer will pay wages lost by two (2) Nursing Home members of the Bargaining Committee will be paid by the Employer for time spent used during normally scheduled working hours in negotiations negotiation of this Agreement during or its successor including all conciliation proceedings but excluding any Arbitration proceedings. Employees on the evening and night shift shall receive paid time off for the actual day of the negotiating meeting.
(e) Where the parties participate in group bargaining, the Employer agrees to provide alternative days off in the case where an employee is bargaining on a day off. In the case of a part time employee such alternative days will be capped at two per calendar week. These bargaining days will be treated as days worked for which the employee will receive pay for the hours which they would normally have been scheduled to work. This shall also apply to negotiations for the renewal of this Agreement including Conciliation but excluding Arbitrationregularly worked.
7.02 The Employer will recognize a Union Administrative Committee which shall consist of a Chief Xxxxxxx Union Chairperson and up to three (3) stewards (one additional committee persons from each of the nursingbargaining unit, housekeeping and dietary) all selected from the members of the their respective bargaining unit, not units. No more than two (2) of which Committee committee members shall meet with Management the Employer at any one time. The Employer shall not be required to recognize such stewards until advised in writing of the names of the members of this Committee including committee and shall be notified of any changes from time to time. All members of the Committee committee shall be employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period.
7.03 (a) The Union acknowledges that the members of the Union Administrative Committee must continue to perform their regular duties, and that so far as possible all activities of the committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the members thereof, unless otherwise mutually arranged. .
(b) Notwithstanding the above, the Employer agrees that requested time off during working hours for Union Administrative activities will not be arbitrarily withheld.
(c) The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective wages for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiation of the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. 7.04 With prior agreement of the Administrator or designate, the Union Representative who has been assigned in writing by SEIU Local 1 Canada to the bargaining unit may have access to their members for servicing duties. Upon reference to arbitration, the Negotiating Committee members shall receive unpaid time off for the purpose of attending arbitration hearings. UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is agreed that the 7.01 The Union may shall elect or otherwise select a Negotiating Committee consisting of two up to five (2) employees one of which may be the Chief Xxxxxxx.

One of the representatives so selected or elected will be the Union Chairperson. The Union Chairperson will be assigned to the day shift unless mutually agreed otherwise by the parties. If the Chairperson is not working on the day shift she will exchange her shift with the least senior employee on the day shift in her classification. At the end of her tenure as Union Chairperson the employees will revert back to their original shift, or the position of their last successful posting. The Union Committee will meet with the Employer on a regular basis as is mutually agreed upon to discuss and resolve any grievances and other matters that either party may raise. Such meetings will occur on the Employer’s premises and during the day shift during regularly scheduled working hours. Either party may request a meeting which shall be held within five (5) calendar days of the request. The Union Committee shall have the right at any time spent to have the assistance of representatives of Unifor. Normally such representatives shall have access to the Employer’s premises. The Employer agrees that the Union Chairperson shall be retained at work during any layoffs or cutbacks in negotiations employment during her term of this Agreement during hours which office, as long as they would normally have been scheduled are qualified to perform any available bargaining unit work. This shall also apply to negotiations for the renewal of this Agreement including Conciliation but excluding Arbitration.

7.03 The Union acknowledges that the members of the Union Administrative Committee must continue to perform their regular dutiesConciliation Officer stage, and that so far as possible for the Chairperson, up to and including all activities of the committee will be carried Arbitration hearings, and while dealing with grievances. This does not apply to time spent on such matters outside the regular working hours hours. Committeepersons will have a choice of shifts either prior to or following Union/Management meetings, negotiations, etc. when evening or night shift work is scheduled, so long as the choice does not create an overtime situation and the shift is not an extra shift.
7.03 Employees who are appointed or otherwise selected as Committee persons or Committee members shall be seniority employees. The Employer agrees to provide private office space for use when requested and appropriate for use as a result of collective agreement issues.
7.04 The Employer will supply the Union with a list of all supervisory personnel who may be involved in the Administration of this Agreement and will revise such list from time to time as is necessary.
7.05 The Union will supply to the Employer the names and titles of all Committeepersons, and will revise such list from time to time as is necessary.
7.06 All Committee Members shall be elected or selected from the shift on which they are presently employed and will function as Committeepersons and be assigned duties on that shift. The Union Chairperson will be scheduled duties on the day shift only and shall be elected from the members at large. Call ins for other shifts shall not be in violation of this Article. The Union Chairperson may appoint an additional committeeperson on a temporary basis to allow for representation. The Union Committee will be notified that a meeting or action will be taken regarding an employee.
7.07 All employees shall have the right to call upon a Union Committee person to be present with them at any meeting with the Employer. When an employee is to meet with Management and written disciplinary action is to be taken, the employee will receive prior notice, so as to enable them to exercise their rights under this clause.
7.08 Where there are matters of mutual concern and interest that would be beneficial if discussed at a Labour Management Committee meeting during the term of this Agreement, the following shall apply. A Committee of each party as mutually agreed shall meet at a time and a place mutually satisfactory. A request for such meeting will be made in writing at least one (1) week prior to the date proposed and accompanied by an agenda of matters proposed to be discussed, which shall not include matters that are probably subject of grievance or matters that are properly the subject of negotiations for the amendment or renewal of this Agreement. Suitable subjects for discussion will include orientation, aggressive residents and work load issues. A representative attending such meeting shall be paid for wages lost from regularly scheduled hours. A Union staff member may attend as representative of the members thereofUnion. Meetings will be held quarterly or sooner if requested.
7.09 In the event that an individual employee or a group of employees have a workload concern, unless otherwise mutually arrangedthe matter will be addressed as follows:
a) When a workload issue is identified, the employee(s) shall discuss the issue with the Employer to develop strategies to meet resident care needs using current resources. If necessary, using established lines of communication, the employee(s) shall seek assistance from an individual(s) identified by the Employer who has responsibility for the management of workload issues in a timely manner.
b) The Employee agrees to discuss the topics of workload and working short at labour management meetings during the currency of this agreement. Either party may bring such information or data as it wishes to the meeting. In the event that a Home assigns a number of residents or a workload to an individual employee or group of employees, such that she or they believe she/they have cause to believe that she or they are being asked to perform more work than is consistent with proper care they may raise the matter in labour/management meetings.
7.10 The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective wages for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiation of the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending meetings with the Employer. UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is agreed that the 7.01 The Union may shall elect or otherwise select up to five (5) members of the bargaining units, who shall function as the Union Committee. 7.05 Notwithstanding the above, such union stewards and employees recognize that by virtue of the nature of the work that they perform they may be required to leave such meeting in order to handle matters relating to client care.
7.06 The Union agrees that, except as provided in this Agreement, there shall be no Union activity on the premises of the Employer during the employees’ working hours except by agreement with the Employer.
7.07 The Union agrees that there shall be no Union meetings on the Employers premises except with the express permission of the Executive Director nor shall there be Union activity while on duty which interferes with the operation of the Shelter, or the performance of employees’ duties.
7.08 Authorized representatives of the Union shall be permitted to enter the premises of the Employer at reasonable times for a reasonable period of time for the purpose of discreetly conducting its business. An official of the Union coming onto the Employer’s property shall first call and advise the Executive Director or designee. Entry shall not be refused unreasonably provided there shall be no interference with the clients or employees performing their work. Specifically, it is understood and agreed that union business will not occur within the activities hearing or presence of the Union Representative clients.

UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is agreed that the Union may will elect or otherwise select a Negotiating Committee negotiating committee consisting of two (2) employees one the representatives, of which may be the Chief Xxxxxxxat least one (1) will come from each location.

Not more than two (2) of which Committee committee members shall meet with Management at any one time. The Employer shall not be required to recognize such stewards until advised in writing of the names of the members of this Committee including committee and shall be notified of any changes from time to time. All members of the Committee committee referred to above shall be regular employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period.
7.03 The Union acknowledges that the members of the Union Administrative Xxxxxxx Committee must continue to perform their regular duties, duties and that so far as possible all activities of the committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the members thereof, unless otherwise mutually arranged. The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective wages for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage. In addition, negotiation of the Collective Agreement Employer shall pay representatives and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and Committee members their respective wages for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours while attending meetings with the Employer. d. It is understood and agreed that the activities limitations set out in sections (b) and (c) above may be exceeded from time to time on mutual agreement of the parties.

It is mutually agreed that arrangements will be made for a Union Xxxxxxx or a Union Representative to meet with each new employee once during the first thirty (30) days of employment for the purpose of informing such employee of the existence of the Union Representative shall not disrupt in the normal operations of workplace. Whenever possible, such meetings may be permitted during the Homeemployee's orientation. UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. 7:01 The Union shall elect or otherwise select up to five (a5) members of the bargaining units, who shall function as the Union Committee. One of the representatives so selected or elected will be the Union Chairperson. The Union shall furnish the Employer from time to time with an update on the current Union Committee representatives. The Union Chairperson will be assigned to the day shift unless mutually agreed otherwise by the parties. If the Chairperson is not working on the day shift she will exchange her shift with the least senior employee on the day shift in her classification. At the end of her tenure as Union Chairperson the employees will revert back to their original shift, or the position of their last successful posting. The Union Committee will meet with the Employer on a regular basis as is mutually agreed upon to discuss and resolve any grievances and other matters that either party may raise. Such meetings will occur on the Employer’s premises and during the day shift during regularly scheduled working hours. Either party may request a meeting which shall be held within five (5) calendar days of the request. The Employer will endeavor to replace Union Committee members attending union management meetings. The Union Committee shall have the right at any time to have the assistance of representatives of Unifor. Normally such representatives shall have access to the Employer’s premises. The Employer agrees that the Union Chairperson shall be retained at work during any layoffs or cutbacks in employment during her term of office, as long as they are qualified to perform any available bargaining unit work.
7:02 The Union acknowledges that Stewards and Union Committee Members have regular duties which must be performed on behalf of the Nursing Home and that such employees will not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission to do so from the Administrator or his designate. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Where a Home is participating in a Master Bargaining Process, and a Union Committee Person is attending a bargaining session with the Employer on Master issues, on a day that would otherwise be a scheduled day off, the Employer agrees to provide such employee with an alternative day off with pay, or, in the alternative pay for the scheduled day(s) so far as possible all activities of the committee will be carried on outside the regular working hours of the members thereof, unless otherwise mutually arranged. The Employer shall pay representatives and Committee members their respective wages for all time lost from regularly scheduled hours investigating and/or processing grievances, up to but not including the arbitration stage, negotiation of the Collective Agreement and renewals thereof, up to and including conciliation, and while attending spent in negotiating meetings with the Employer. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union Xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the Supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. The zone within which the other Stewards are to function shall be limited to the Department in which they are employed, Should a Xxxxxxx be obligated to enter another Department on Union business, he will not enter until he has obtained the permission of the Department Head. Central Bargaining Committee In future central bargaining between the Service Employee's Union and the participating Hospitals, an employee serving on the Union's Central Negotiating Committee shall be paid for time lost from his normal straight time working hours at his regular rate of pay and without loss of leave credits for attending Central Negotiating meetings with the Hospitals' Central Negotiating Committee in direct negotiations up to the point of arbitration. Upon reference to arbitration, the Negotiating Committee members shall receive unpaid time off for the purpose of attending Arbitration Hearings. It is understood and agreed that the maximum number of Negotiating Committee members entitled to payment under this shall be seven and in no case will more than one a Hospital be entitled to such payment, The Union shall advise the Hospitals' Central Negotiating Committee before negotiations commence, of those employees to be paid under this provision. The Hospitals' Central Negotiating Committee shall advise the seven Hospitals accordingly. Where the Hospital does not participate in central bargaining, the purpose of the Negotiating Committee shall be to negotiate a renewal of this Collective Agreement. Further, that Stewards will serve as members of the Negotiating Committee and such other representatives of the Union who are authorized to represent the Employees in discussions and dealings with the Employer in connection with any matters which Committee members shall meet with Management at any one timemay properly arise out of the administration of this Agreement. The Union agrees to notify the Employer shall not be required to recognize such stewards until advised in writing of the names of the members of this Committee including changes from time to time. All members of the Committee shall be employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary periodand any changes therein.
7.03 It is acknowledged, understood and agreed that Stewards have their regular duties to perform as employees and that such persons will not leave their regular duties without obtaining permission from his/her supervisor. The supervisor will not unreasonably refuse to xxxxx x Xxxxxxx permission to leave his/her regular duties. In accordance with this understanding such employees will not suffer loss of pay, while performing any of the duties required to be performed by a Xxxxxxx pursuant to the provisions contained in this Agreement.
7.04 It is agreed that meetings between the Employer and the Union called at the request of either party will normally be held during regular working hours, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Employees attending any meeting within normal working hours, including ones dealing with grievances, will suffer no loss of pay.
7.05 In the event of either party wishing to call a meeting for the purpose of discussion of matters arising out of the administration of this Agreement, will notify the other party in writing and supply an agenda for the meeting. The meeting will be held within a reasonable time following receipt of said notice.

Central Bargaining Committee In the event the parties to this Agreement agree to negotiate for its renewal through the process of central bargaining, it is agreed that one representative from the bargaining unit shall be entitled to a leave of absence to attend either the central negotiations (including caucuses) or only the central Union caucuses (including reasonable travel time). It is understood and agreed that the leave of absence for attendance at such caucuses shall not be for more than one day exclusive of reasonable travel time for each scheduled negotiation session between the central negotiating committees. Leave for attendance at the central Union caucuses shall be subject to the same terms and conditions for leave for attendance at negotiations under the provisions of the Collective Agreement. In future central bargaining between the Service Employees International Union and the participating hospitals, an employee serving on the Union’s Central Negotiating Committee shall be paid for time lost from his normal straight time working hours at his regular rate of pay and without loss of leave credits for attending central negotiating meetings with the Hospitals’ Central Negotiating Committee in direct negotiations up to the point of arbitration. Upon reference to arbitration, the Negotiating Committee members shall receive unpaid time off for the purpose of attending arbitration hearings. It is understood and agreed that the maximum number of Union Central Negotiating Committee members entitled to payment under this provision shall be seven and in no case will more than one employee from a hospital be entitled to such payment. The Employer may designate an area Union shall advise the Hospitals’ Central Negotiating Committee, before negotiations commence, of those employees to be paid under this provision. The Hospitals’ Central Negotiating Committee shall advise the building where such access will take placeseven hospitals accordingly.

UNION REPRESENTATION AND COMMITTEES. (a) It is mutually agreed that where negotiations are conducted on a joint basis between any or all of the nursing homes, the Union will elect or otherwise select a negotiating committee consisting of one representative from each nursing home. 7.02 The Employer will recognize a Union Administrative Stewards Committee which shall consist of a Chief Xxxxxxx and three four (34) stewards (one from each of the nursingstewards, housekeeping and dietary) all selected from the members of the bargaining unit, not more than two (2) of which Committee committee members shall meet with Management the Employer at any one time. The Employer shall not be required to recognize such stewards until advised in writing of the names of the members of this Committee including changes from time to time. All members of the Committee committee shall be regular employees of the Employer who have completed their probationary period.
7.03 . (iv) during the granted time off, the Employer will compensate the Union Xxxxxxx at the regular straight time hourly rate of pay she would have received during her scheduled shift in performing her normal scheduled work for the Employer.
9.08 The Employer may designate an area of will not compensate the building where such access will take placeChief Xxxxxxx, Stewards or bargaining unit members at Arbitration hearings.
9.09 Nothing in this Article shall preclude Union Stewards who are regular full time employees from representing regular part time employees (or casual employees) or from Union Stewards who are regular part time employees (or casual employees) from representing regular full time employees.
