UNPAID LEAVE FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT ACTIVITIES Sample Clauses

UNPAID LEAVE FOR SCHOOL DISTRICT ACTIVITIES. An eligible employee may be granted a long-term unpaid leave for the purpose of substitute teaching in the District or to participate in student teaching in Batavia Public Schools. The length of such leave will be determined by the employee and the immediate supervisor and requires the approval of the Board. The granting or denial of such leave request will be non-precedential or subject to review through this Agreement’s grievance procedure. Access to health insurance, if available, during the term of the leave will be determined by the requirements of the District’s health insurance plan and will be provided at the employee’s sole expense. During the term of such leave, the employee will not accrue any benefits, including seniority, and salary placement advancement. However, upon return from such leave, the employee will experience no loss in benefits, salary placement, or seniority in effect at the time the leave began. The employee will be returned to a position for which he/she is qualified upon return from the leave but no necessarily to the position held at the time the leave began.
