UPGRADE PAY. When an employee is qualified for and temporarily required by the Employer to serve and accept the full duties and responsibility of a higher class of position for at least one (1) hour of continuous duty, unless the employee is assigned to a higher classification for the purpose of on-the-job training for advancement purposes, the employee shall receive the starting rate of the higher classification or a five percent (5%) salary increase, whichever is greater, for the time spent working in the higher classification. In no case, however, can the adjusted salary level exceed the maximum of the salary range for the higher position.
