Common use of Use of Vacation Time Clause in Contracts

Use of Vacation Time. It is the intent that vacation time be used in time increments sufficiently long enough to permit the employee an adequate period of rest. The use of vacation time in less than weekly increments is to be discouraged. In no event may vacation be taken in increments of less than one-hour nor for a period exceeding the number of accrued whole days except upon the recommendation of the Department Head. With the written recommendation of the Department Head and approval of the Human Resources Officer, a permanent employee may incur a negative vacation balance of up to five (5) days, or 4.6668 shifts for Fire Department personnel.
