Uses for Sick Leave. Employees may use sick leave, for absence due to personal illness, pregnancy of employee or spouse, injury, exposure to contagious disease which could be communicated to other employees, and for illness, injury or death in the employee’s immediate family where the presence of the employee is required. For purposes of this Article, immediate family is defined as spouse, child, parent, grandparent, spouse’s grandparent, brother, sister, xxxxxxxxxx, stepchild, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or other relative residing at the employee’s immediate household.
