ANIMAL RULES definition

ANIMAL RULES. The student is responsible for all actions of the animal(s) and will abide by the following. The student’s responsibility cannot be delegated to another person, such as a roommate. No animal may disturb the rights, comfort, safety or convenience of other students, guests or persons near the property. The student may be directed to remove the animal if it is unruly or disruptive (e.g., barking excessively, running around, jumping on people, exhibiting aggressive behavior, damaging property, etc.) and the student is unable to take effective action to control the animal. Repeated instances of such behavior may result in exclusion from chapter house until the student is able to demonstrate effective control of the animal. When outside private quarters, the animal must be leashed or under the student’s direct control and supervision at all times. The animal must be housetrained/housebroken before entering the chapter house, and may not engage in aggressive or destructive behavior. No animal may be tied to any fixed object on or in the chapter house. When the student is not present on the property, the animal must be crated. The animal may not be left overnight without the student present, and cannot be left unattended by the student for an unreasonable amount of time. The student must promptly remove any animal waste from the chapter house, including the yard. Repeated accidents inside the chapter facility, particularly those causing damage and/or additional cleaning may result in the removal of the animal from the chapter facility. The student must immediately remove any animal offspring from the residence. The student must comply with all applicable local, state and university statutes, ordinances, restrictions, and regulations regarding animals, including licensing and vaccination requirements. House Board has the right to require documentation of compliance with such ordinances, laws, and/or regulations that may include a vaccination certificate. The student must keep the animal current on its rabies shots (if applicable). The student must ensure that the animal is kept clean and well-groomed. An animal that is excessively unclean (e.g., repeated soiling of facilities, flea-infested, foul-smelling and/or shedding excessively) may be excluded from the chapter house. Any evidence of mistreatment, abuse, neglect, or leaving the assistance animal unattended for unreasonably long periods of time may result in immediate removal of the animal and/or my own discipl...
