Gifted and talented children are children who require appropriate instruction and educational services commensurate with their abilities and needs beyond those provided by the regular school program.
The Racial Equity Committee will be specifically attuned to: • Early Childhood Education;• Elementary, middle and high school data;• Suspension and discipline data;• Extracurricular activities;• Gifted and talented or highly able programs;• Culturally sensitive and inclusive curriculum and instruction;• Special Education;• English learners;• Hiring, recruitment and retention; and• Professional development of staff.
Gifted and talented services are pro- vided through or under the supervision of highly qualified professional teach- ers.
Gifted and talented children are defined as those students who are identified as possessing demonstrated or potential abilities that give evidence of high performing capabilities in intellectual, creative, specific academic or leadership areas, or ability in the performing or visual arts and who require services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop such capabilities.
Gifted and talented, as well as general education, personnel will receive ongoing training in order to meet the needs of G/T students who are enrolled in the school.
