Leading Hand A leading hand is an Employee who is given by the Employer, or the Employer's agent, the responsibility of directing and/ or supervising the work of one or more other persons and is paid an allowance in accordance with Appendix 3.
A person specifically appointed to be a Leading Hand (as defined) will be paid at the rate of the undermentioned additional hourly amounts above the hourly rates of the highest classification supervised, or his/her own rate, whichever is the highest, in accordance with the number of persons in his/her charge.
Leading Hand allowance shall be paid at the rates provided in the table of allowances.
It is agreed between the parties that on every job site which has a permanent team of three or more employees on site at any one time, the Employer will ensure that there is a nominated Leading Hand on site at all times to provide adequate supervision.
An Employee appointed as a Leading Hand for a particular shift will be paid at the highest classification rate of the employee they are supervising where greater than their own classification rate, plus the leading hand allowance.
