Preparation Day definition

Preparation Day means a workday during which a Certified Employee is not assigned teaching duties, but the Certified Employee is involved in professional preparation.
Preparation Day or “Teacher’s Early Release Wednesday” (Section 9.3.2) means time for unassigned professional duties such as instructional planning and preparation free of District required or requested conferences/staff-grade leveldepartment meetings, in-service, IEP meetings, et cetera. During this period of time a teacher may not be required by the District to participate in or be asked by the District to volunteer to participate in any duty that the District or its administration may determine to be useful and/or important.

Examples of Preparation Day in a sentence

  • One day of the work year shall be dedicated for Elementary Report Card/Conference Preparation Day for the elementary staff and Secondary Change-Over Day for record keeping or clerical duties for the secondary staff.

  • Prior to the start of the assignment, the Teacher-Teaching-On-Call will be entitled to a Transitional Preparation Day.

  • Such hours shall be worked on the special education teacher’s Preparation Day or the Special Education Preparation Day.

  • The Preparation Day may be scheduled up to February 28th of each school year.

  • One day will be added prior to the Teacher Preparation Day and the remaining two (2) days will be selected by the District in consultation with TANLA leadership.

  • Once the Preparation Day is approved, the certified teacher will enter the requested day into the absence reporting system no less than two (2) working days prior to the Preparation Day.

  • The certified teacher will schedule the Preparation Day either using the Absence Reporting System (AESOP) no less than five (5) working days prior.
