Rather, its purpose is to reduce the financial impact of legitimate need for leave on an extended basis resulting from serious or pregnancy related medical and/or recovery needs. Action By The Leave Review Committee: Decisions related to approval or rejections of requests for sick leave bank use will be a majority rule basis. The decision of the committee is final.

Certified staff members who reported lost days due to COVID quarantine during the 2021-2022 school year will be returned up to 10 days. Days will be returned to the bank from which they were taken, discretionary leave or sick leave bank. Certified staff members will need to request for the return of any lost days due to COVID during the 2022-2023 school year through the sick leave bank and present official documentation. The article expires at the end of 2022-2023 school year and can be revisited for the 2023-2024 school year.

  • Critical Illness or “CI” means Diagnosis of any of the following Covered Conditions which occur directly as a result of illness, and first occur after the Effective Date of Insurance:

  • Catastrophic illness or “injury” means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee’s family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.

  • Physiotherapist means a health care professional who is registered in the part of the register maintained by the Health Professions Council under article 5 of the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001 (establishment and maintenance of register) relating to physiotherapists and:

  • Terminal Illness means a person is diagnosed by a Physician to have a prognosis of 12 months or less to live.

  • Psychological abuse which shall mean conduct by a custodian intentionally or recklessly causing, by verbal or non-verbal conduct, a substantial diminution of a service recipient's emotional, social or behavioral development or condition, supported by a clinical assessment performed by a physician, psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, licensed clinical or master social worker or licensed mental health counselor, or causing the likelihood of such diminution. Such conduct may include but shall not be limited to intimidation, threats, the display of a weapon or other object that could reasonably be perceived by a service recipient as a means for infliction of pain or injury, in a manner that constitutes a threat of physical pain or injury, taunts, derogatory comments or ridicule.

  • Routine use means the disclosure of a record without the consent of the subject or subjects, for a purpose which is compatible with the purpose for which the record was collected. It includes disclosures required to be made by statute other than the public records law, Iowa Code chapter 22.

  • Routine care means medical care which is not urgent or emergent in nature and can wait for a regularly scheduled physician appointment without risk of permanent damage to the patient’s life or health status. The condition requiring routine care is not likely to substantially worsen without immediate clinical intervention.

  • Medical Review Officer (MRO means a licensed physician, employed with or contracted with the City, responsible for receiving laboratory results generated by the City's drug testing program who has knowledge of substance abuse disorders, laboratory testing procedures, and chain of custody collection procedures; who verifies positive, confirmed test results, and who has the necessary and appropriate medical training to interpret and evaluate an individual's confirmed positive test result together with his or her medical history and any other relevant biomedical information.

  • Medical Specialist means any medical practitioner who is vocationally registered by the Medical Council under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 in one of the approved branches of medicine and who is employed in either that branch of medicine or in a similar capacity with minimal oversight.

  • Stroke means a cerebrovascular accident or infarction (death) of brain tissue, as diagnosed by a Physician, which is caused by hemorrhage, embolism, or thrombosis producing measurable, neurological deficit persisting for at least one hundred eighty (180) days following the occurrence of the Stroke.
