UNIVERSITY will assist with the SCHOOL’s athletic insurance by doing the following: a. Prepare and give to each athlete’s parent(s) a letter explaining the athletic insurance policy and give proper direction in the filing of an injury claim. It will be emphasized that all injuries for which claims are submitted must be evaluated and/or treated by a physician within sixty (60) days of the injury date. b. The ATC will attend as many athletic teams’ initial parent meetings as possible to review athletic insurance information. c. When possible, the ATC will speak with parent(s) directly when an athlete is sent to a physician and give them guidance on filing the athletic insurance claim. 4. The ATC will provide Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for each athletic venue at their assigned school. Each EAP will be discussed with the SCHOOL’s head coaches and a copy will be given to them and SCHOOL’s Athletic Director or Assistant Principal. Each EAP will be practiced by all involved personnel. Risk Management will also be addressed with the head coaches and Athletic Director through the following: a. Identifications of hazards and risks at each athletic venue b. Elimination of identified risks where possible c. Modification of the sports program to reduce exposure to hazards and risks which cannot be completely eliminated d. Preparation for appropriate responses to injuries which may occur after all possible precautions are taken 5. The ATC will provide student athletic trainer supervision and instruction, including CPR certification at a minimal cost to coaches. Any significant information on student athletic trainer effectiveness shall be provided to coaches as needed. 6. UNIVERSITY will provide continuing education for middle and high school coaches that complies with KHSAA requirements.
