Common use of Absence Clause in Contracts

Absence. (a) The musician shall not, without the Orchestral Manager's prior permission, appoint or send any substitute or deputy for any performance or rehearsal, nor shall he/she be absent from any performance which he/she is required to attend except in consequence of illness or physical incapacity (certified by the production to the Orchestral Manager of a medical certificate as required). Leave of absence will be agreed by consultation with the Orchestral Manager. The management will look sympathetically on time off requests that are not deemed to affect the overall performance of the orchestra
