Acting Appointments. In the event an employee is placed, by authorization of the concerned Department in a higher classification on an "acting" basis, pending the appropriate appointment from an established eligible list, such employees will receive a one (1) pay step increase for the period of time served in the "acting" class, and further, any time served in this capacity shall not be credited toward the probationary period. An acting appointment will be for an initial period of not more than six (6) months (13 pay periods). However, this initial time period may be extended for up to an additional six (6) months when the Department requests such extension from the Human Resources Department. The Association will be advised by the concerned Department of a requested extension prior to a final determination by the Human Resources Department.
