Common use of Additional Bereavement Leave Clause in Contracts

Additional Bereavement Leave. 1. The District recognizes the need for additional bereavement leave on occasion. An employee may request one (1) additional non-accumulative bereavement day per year through the Human Resources Office. If this day has been used, an employee’s next option would be to use a personal leave day, or if none available, up to one (1) emergency leave day as per Section 6.1 G above. 2. If situations where personal problems are a result of bereavement, the staff member may be granted an extended leave of absence without pay, upon approval of the Superintendent of Schools. Such an extended leave shall not exceed ninety (90) days and the staff member shall maintain his/her place on the salary schedule.
