Additional Needs. At Skool Is Out we are committed to inclusion and offering support for children of all abilities and needs. Prior to registration we request parents/carers identify any additional needs your child/ren have, or any support they may require, in advance of commencing childcare with us. This enables us to ensure appropriate adjustments can be made and that suitable levels of support are in place to ensure each child’s individual care needs can be met, where possible. We may require you to visit the club in advance with your child/ren to undertake a Needs Assessment to ensure the club environment is suitable and that any necessary adjustments can be considered. If your child receives additional support in school we may require this to be replicated in the childcare environment to ensure consistency of approach, and may seek assistance or further funding for support from Edinburgh Council, or other external agencies, as necessary. We may also request you complete an Additional Needs Care Plan in advance of your child/ren attending with further information about specific wellbeing needs, including any details of any adverse childhood experience (ACE), autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or general social and emotional behavioural needs. A Care Plan should be completed collaboratively between the Childcare Manager and parents/carers. The level of support required varies from child to child, and it is important that all children’s additional needs are considered individually so that the appropriate level of support can be provided, where possible. Skool Is Out works closely with local schools and Edinburgh to implement any necessary provisions to ensure that, wherever possible, children with disabilities or additional support needs can participate fully in the life of the club. Please be aware that there may be some circumstances whereby we are unable to ensure the appropriate levels of support are in place, depending on individual children’s defined care needs and our ability as a childcare provider to meet these. The wellbeing of all children in our care is our number one priority. Skool Is Out will always seek to exhaust all options and make reasonable adjustments to accommodate all children within our after school and holiday club environments, wherever possible. Please refer to our Managing Challenging Behaviour policy for further details. Please also note that if the relevant information relating to additional needs is not disclosed to us in advance this could co...
