Bona Fide Religious Exemption. All non-members have all rights and privileges in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 4117.09(C) pertaining to bona fide religious exemption.

Bona Fide Religious Exemption a. This agreement safeguards the rights of non-association of employees based on bona fide religious tenets or teachings of a church or religious body of which such employee is a member. Such employee shall pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues to a non-religious charity or to another charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee affected and the Union. The employee shall furnish written proof to the Employer that such payments have been made.
Bona Fide Religious Exemption. Any employee who is a member of a church or religious body having bona fide religious tenants or teachings which prohibit association with a labor organization or the payment of dues to it, shall pay an amount of money equivalent to regular Union dues to a non-religious charity or to another charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee affected and a representative of the labor organization to which such employee would otherwise be required to pay dues. The employee shall furnish written proof each month to the Employer and Union that this has been done. Employees who fail to meet this requirement shall be discharged by the Employer upon demand of the Union.

Notwithstanding an employee’s claim of exemption under this section, the Employer shall deduct payments in-lieu-of dues from the employee’s wages pursuant to this Article until agreement has been reached between the employee and the Union.
Bona Fide Religious Exemption. If any employee covered by this Agreement is precluded from making a fair share involuntary contribution as required by Section 2 of this Article due to bona fide religious tenets or the teachings of a church or religious body of which that employee is a member, that employee shall have the right to refuse to allow the involuntary deduction, provided however that this right to refuse shall continue only so long as the employee makes contributions at least equal in amount to the fair share fee amount to a non-religious charitable organization mutually agreed upon by the employee so refusing and the Union. For this purpose the Union shall certify to the University the names of all bargaining unit employees who are relieved of the obligation to pay a fair share fee by virtue of this Section; and it shall be the sole obligation of the Union to verify that the contributions contemplated herein have actually been made and that said employees are not subject to a fair share fee involuntary deduction.
