Changes During the Year. You can only make changes in the Healthcare Program during the annual enrollment period, unless you have a life event or "qualifying change in status" that affects the type of coverage you need. You or your dependents can enroll in or change your level of coverage during the year, consistent with the legal requirements for a qualifying change in status, only if one of the following events occur and you and your dependents sign up within 31 days to reflect the life event. Life events and status changes are: • Marriage, divorce, legal separation or annulment. • Birth, adoption or placement for adoption of a child. • Death of a covered dependent. • Change in your dependent's eligibility status (for example, your child reaches an age when coverage stops). • You lose coverage provided under another plan (for example, your spouse's plan is no longer offered). • Change in location (that is, your current medical coverage is not available in your new location). • Termination or start of employment by yourself, your spouse or your dependent. • Change in your or your spouse’s employment status that results in a gain or loss of benefits eligibility (for example, a change in work schedule, termination of employment, or new employment).
