Civil Service Appeals. Grievances cognizable under the civil service procedure are limited to discharge, suspension, demotion, or alleged violation of civil service rules and regulations. Procedural rules for these grievances are provided only by City ordinance or civil service rules. Step 1. Upon written notice of a discharge, suspension, or demotion, the employee, if said employee wishes to appeal, MUST file the appeal within ten (10) days of the issuance of the Employee Incident Report to the Civil Service Board. Step 2. If the employee or the City is not satisfied with the action of the Civil Service Board, the decision may be appealed to the appropriate court within 30 days of the decision.
