Classification of Complaints. A. Internal Investigations (II Cases): Internal Investigations are formal investigations conducted by the Internal Affairs Unit on complaints which allege serious violations of policy regulations, procedures, criminal acts or corruption or consideration of progressive discipline which would result in employee suspension or greater if sustained. If it is possible, a sworn statement from the complainant shall be obtained. Only the Chief or his designee can authorize an Internal Investigation. Internal Investigations shall be completed in accordance with 112 FSS.
