Common use of Compassionate and Emergency Leave Clause in Contracts

Compassionate and Emergency Leave. (a) Compassionate Leave Employees requiring compassionate leave will, on request, be granted up to seven (7) calendar days' leave without loss of pay in case of death of a close family member or individual permanently residing in the employee's household. Where extensive traveling time is required up to three (3) additional calendar days will be granted on request. Compassionate leave without loss of pay may be granted by a chair/director under other reasonable circumstances (e.g. to attend to a family member or close personal friend who has suffered a life threatening injury or illness).
