Common use of Compensatory Time Off (CTO) Clause in Contracts

Compensatory Time Off (CTO). Compensatory time off (CTO) shall not be confused with “flex-time”. Compensatory time strictly refers to an alternate form of compensation for overtime work and shall be paid at one and one half (1 ½) times the base hourly pay rate. An appointing authority will not assign overtime work and require the employee to flex their regular work schedule in the same pay period to avoid overtime.
