Control Area. An electric power system or combination of electric power systems to which a common automatic generation control scheme is applied in order to:
(1) match, at all times, the power output of the generators within the electric power system(s) and capacity and energy purchased from entities outside the electric power system(s), with the load within the electric power system(s);
(2) maintain scheduled interchange with other Control Areas, within the limits of Good Utility Practice;
(3) maintain the frequency of the electric power system(s) within reasonable limits in accordance with Good Utility Practice; and
(4) provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating reserves in accordance with Good Utility Practice.

Control Area Services. Services provided by the ISO under the ISO Services Tariff related to the ISO’s responsibilities as the Control Area operator for the NYCA Cooperatively Owned Electric System. A cooperatively owned electric system that owns or controls distribution facilities and provides electric service in accordance with the Rural Electric Corporation Law, and is located within the New York Control Area.
Control Area. An electric power system or combination of electric power systems, bounded by metering, to which a common automatic generation control scheme is applied in order to:
Control Area. The Control Area within ERCOT is a single Control Area with ERCOT assuming authority as the Control Area operator in accordance with ERCOT Requirements.
Control Area. An area comprised of an electric system or systems bounded by interconnection metering and telemetry, capable of controlling generation to maintain its interchange schedules with other control areas while maintaining frequency regulation of the interconnection.
Control Area. A Control Area (also known as Balancing Authority Area) is an electric power system or combination of electric power systems to which a common automatic generation control scheme is applied in order to:
a. match at all times the power output of the generators within the electric power system(s) and the import of energy from entities outside the electric power system(s) with the load within the electric power system(s) and the export of energy to entities outside the electric power system(s);
b. maintain scheduled interchange with other Control Areas, within the limits of Good Utility Practice;
c. maintain the frequency of the electric power system(s) within reasonable limits in accordance with Good Utility Practice; and
d. provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating reserves in accordance with Good Utility Practice.
Control Area. Control Area shall mean an electric power system or combination of electric power systems bounded by interconnection metering and telemetry to which a common generation control scheme is applied in order to:
(a) match the power output of the generators within the electric power system(s) and energy purchased from entities outside the electric power system(s), with the load within the electric power system(s);
(b) maintain scheduled interchange with other Control Areas, within the limits of Good Utility Practice;
(c) maintain the frequency of the electric power system(s) within reasonable limits in accordance with Good Utility Practice and the criteria of NERC and each Applicable Regional Entity;
(d) maintain power flows on transmission facilities within appropriate limits to preserve reliability; and
(e) provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating reserves in accordance with Good Utility Practice.
Control Area. OPC reserves the right, at any point during the Term, to establish and operate a Control Area, or to contract with others to establish and operate a Control Area. Such Control Area would be utilized pursuant to 18 C.F.R. Part 35 to match Electric Energy input and output within the electric system, maintain scheduled interchange with other Control Areas, maintain the frequency of the Electric Energy system within reasonable limits and provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating services.
Control Area. Control Area shall mean an electric power system or combination of electric power systems bounded by interconnection metering and telemetry to which a common automatic generation control scheme is applied in order to: (i) match, at all times, the power output of the generators within the electric power system(s) and energy purchased from entities outside the electric power system(s), with the load within the electric power system(s); (ii) maintain scheduled interchange with other Control Areas, within the limits of Good Utility Practice: (iii) maintain the frequency of the electric power system(s) within reasonable limits in accordance with Good Utility Practice and the criteria of NERC and the Applicable Regional Reliability Council of NERC; (iv) maintain power flows on transmission facilities within appropriate limits to preserve reliability; and (v) provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating reserves in accordance with Good Utility Practice.
